Aizu-Wakamatsu Washington Hotel, located a few hundred meters away, was our choice for the one night in town. The room was one of the more spacious business hotel rooms I had been in and the beds were super comfortable.

The hotel fine for stays of western folks (U.S & European). Beds are comfortable and the breakfast is a good mix of American and Japanese dishes. Closet space is limited and there are not and drawers but there is a small table with one shelf underneath. Room has a small refrigerator and there are two convenience stores just a few blocks away (7-11 and Family Mart) and a grocery store nearby as well. Front desk personnel speak English and they are very accommodating. The 10th floor breakfast area turns into a bar in the evenings and has a great view of the area. The WiFi is free n=and work very well and is reliable. I have been going for two week stays for business for several months now and and very comfortable in this hotel.

About a 10-minute walk from the station.
The room was typically small with the usual modular bathroom.
Breakfast on the top floor was not great - just ok
The stop for the town's loop bus is just along the road, so convenient to see the local sights.
Aizu-wakamatsu is also convenient for a (half-day) trip to Ouchijuku, an old-style street of shops and restaurants.

This is one of better standard hotels in AizuWakamatsu (by this I mean -- not old Japanese style hotels that are there as well).

Breakfast is great -- mixed Japanese + European style. Thought the "restaurant music" is quite peculiar. Restaurant is on the top floor, so you have a nice view.

Rooms are as small as one would expect... Bathroom is the typical -- all in one plastic contraption that you find in many Japanese hotels. There would be no place if you had big luggage.

Attention is paid to all details, as in a typical Japanese hotel.

However, it is a bit worn-out and could use a touch of refreshing....

Room Tip: High-up -- better view.

The Washington is a typical Japanese business hotel with small but adequate modern rooms conveniently located a few minutes walk from the railway station and bus interchange to the north of the CBD. The best feature is a very pleasant bar and restaurant on the 10th floor with area views and reasonably priced meals and drinks.

Room Tip: Higher floors have good area views.
