After a week long of climbing and summiting MT Kilimanjaro, this place was a God-spend haven. It was so relaxing, the place was a perfect get away for rest and relaxation after the cold nights we spend sleeping on a tent. From the time we checked-in to the time we checked out everything was just perfect. My only regrets, we were only there for a short period of time 3 days and 2 nights and was not able to spend much time exploring the place and walking on the long white sand beach. We enjoy just staying and relaxing in our comfortable room and bed. I highly recommend this place for anyone that want to rest and relax after climbing MT Kili.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 361 and it was closed to everything.

We’ve spent 2 weeks in this place this winter as an alternative to Thailand, looking for white sand beach. Overall, it’s a nice place, so, I’ll go straight to the point.

Good:
- the service. It is good, the staff is friendly.
- unlike in many other even 5* hotels (especially in Dominicana or Turkey) you can always find a sunbed. There is no need to fight for it by waking up at 7 am. No, take your time. The management of this place was not cheap and bought enough of them. The only day we had some troubles was the day of “the big departure” and “the big arrival”. Hence, the leaving people stayed till the afternoon, but the newcomers were already there waiting for the room to be ready. No a big deal anyway.
- if you like to party, chose a different place. This hotel is pretty quiet: no drunk guys singing songs until 2 o’clock in the morning. So, you can actually relax in the evening (except once a week, see below).
- most of the guys there are Germans, however, there are a few Czechs, Polish, Russians, Belgians.
- the food is OK, may be, not super different every day, however, there were some evenings devoted to the regional food or BBQ party, or you can always go to the one of the restaurants à la carte. Also, no troubles to find a snack in the afternoon. Even after 2 weeks I was not tired.
- two big swimming pools, large territory to walk, white sand, «clean» sea («clean», because of the seaweed – see below). But the water itself is clean.
- though there are no umbrellas on the beach, there are enough trees that form the natural roof instead. So, it is not a problem to find a shadow.
- if you choose the seafood menu for $75 (for two people!)– it is more than enough for two people. Fresh grilled king prawns, lobster, pieces of tuna etc., the plates will be huge! So, I highly recommend it. Believe me, you won't leave the table hungry. Plus, it is very romantic, just pick up a good evening.

What I did not like:
- low Internet speed and poor Wi-Fi reception + it’s not available everywhere. Or you may have 3 bars in your house, but no connection, though the signal is good. So, go to the reception. SSL-protocol (used for online banking, for example), worked only every other day. Hence, take care of your finances before. Hey, it's a vacation time!). But, seriously, besides not being able to check by bank from time to time, once I was not able to pay for a tour by card as there was no connection for the terminal.
- once a week there is a disco party in the bar not far away (“Full moon party”?). While you, probably, won’t hear the music, the bass sound is so loud that you won't be able to fall asleep even with the windows closed. Other than that, it was quiet for the rest of the week.
- unbelievably high prices for SPA. Guys, your place is empty, the masseuses are just counting the flies on the cellar, sorry. Lower the price tag from $100 to $60 and you will have everything booked. The same concerns the souvenir shop – cosmic prices! Buy the souvenirs in the town.
- Thai restaurant – don’t try Tom Yam there, you’d be disappointed.
- Seaweed – my biggest disappointment. The sea is clean in general, but the tide is so low, that you can forget about swimming, unless you are ready to walk a couple km into the sea. This results in seaweed on the beach 3-5 meters wide (see photo) that NEVER gets cleaned. Again, NEVER! So, with the higher tide all this seaweed just dries out and rolls in the sea day after day, making swimming there really unpleasant. Guys, bring a tractor once and clean it like it has been done in any other place.

Just a few notes:
- the hotel is about 1 hour away from the airport, take it into account (leave some water etc,)
- there are a LOT of people trying to sell you something on the beach. Unlike in many other resorts, they will be bugging you even after 2 weeks. Just say “No, thanks” from your Day 1 and pass. This will be your best strategy.
- there is not ATM in the hotel. So, if you need cash – prepare it beforehand.
- tips – unlike in Dominicana, where the guys are so spoiled by the Americans that they ask tips for anything even in “all inclusive” places, this hotel is OK. However, if you leave $1 on your bed every morning, people really appreciate it.
- again, VERY low tides. You won’t be able to find a sea up to your knee, unless you walk 500-1000 m. Keep that in mind.
- if you are looking some white sand and the deep blue sea – you can find it good enough to take a few pictures and make your friends jealous. But no, it’s not the Maldives (tried both :). If you want some clean blue water, either take a full-day tour to a little bank near the capital of Zanzibar or go to the Maldives or :). This little “island” by the capital has no name, it is really just a small island that sticks off the water when the tide is low and gets completely flooded when the tide is high. It is about $100-150 for the whole day, grilled seafood included, but no place to hide from the sunshine. So, take your 30-50 SPF sun protection.
- seaview villas are the furthest ones and you will have to climb the hill. For us it was OK, for somebody - may be not. And the seaview is...not that great, let me put it this way.
- I don’t know about your flight, but upon your departure, I highly recommend you to make a couple of sandwiches (the hotel prepares early breakfast/snacks even for the people leaving at 4 a.m, like us). If you go to Europe, most probably, you’ll be waiting in the airport, then fly to Kenia, 1.5-2-hours there, then 9-hour flight to Europe and you’ll see no food until the longest flight. Say, you leave the place at 5 o’clock in the morning, you won’t see another snack until 12 a.m. and airport of Zanzibar is… well, better take your own sandwiches and ask the guys to wrap them in foil.

Have a good vacation! I hope, my review helped you in some way

Hello  everyone,or JAMBO

We just came back from Neptune beach resort & spa Pwani, Zanzibar, and we have so many beautiful suvenirs…

First of all, after a big shock at the airport, and road to hotel, we walked in to a paradise. Huge palm trees,a huge complex  with planty of tropical fruits and bungalows. The first impression was WOW!

We came on reception to take our room key, and they took our bags to our room. Nice room with curtain vs mosquitoes, big bed, huge bathroom, and big balcony with chairs and small table. Cute! Rooms are clean, they clean it every day and they change towels everyday. They sprey mosquitoes every night before dinner , (for ones who freaks out about malaria-no mosquitos whatsoever).

People In hotel are very kind and smiley , there was not even one day we saw someone stressed or angry, specially people from the restaurant and bar at the beach.

Only thing we didn’t like , were massai and people at the beach, that are standing and waiting turists so they can sell things and talk to them…it was little too much for us, so we weren’t relaxed everytime we wanted to go for a walk at the beach sand.. they kind a ruined the moments.

Other thing I wanted to share with U , is wind that is strong, and kind a perfect for kiters and wind surfers. Of course, there is a HUUUUUUGE ebb tide, about…500m at least. So every day u can walk a lot.

What else… a lot of activities, in hotel, ping pong, darts, hockey table, baby foot, aquabic, stretching….

Food, was really good, we loved soups, that u can eat every day twice a day, always 2 kind of soups, all kind of meats, fish, rise, a loooot of fruits and deserts. For every stomack.

There is even 3 restaurants that are included in all inclusive, Italian, indian and Japanese.

Internet wasn’t good, we had problem during all 2 weeks. Sometimes is good, sometimes it just block. Even when we are at the reception. Guess too many people.. ☹

Well, this is all.. I hope this  will help someone to make up their mind.

One more thing, if u decide to come to Neptune , please say HI to Helena from the restaurant. Big HI from Jelena and Tanja thank U

Have a nice vacation and don’t forget HAKUNA MATATA

We stayed at Neptune for a week and I do not have enough good things to say about the place. The beauty of the resort is second only to the beauty of the surrounding beach, which is complemented by a genuine need by all the staff to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I have seen many negative reviews about the vendors on the beach close to the resort and my only advise is to just be friendly, say Jambo and experience the island in its entirety. The local people make Zanzibar the magical place it is, respect the people and respect the island. We'll be back for sure.
