Outstanding country estate to visit. An amazing home and gardens that have been in the same family for 800 years. A little off the beaten path but well worth the visit. Evelyn, our guide, was very charming and did a great job explaining the family’s history. My wife and I were the only ones in her tour, so very intimate.
Third visit to beautiful Curraghmore House, but first tour of the house and absolutely felt welcomed by our very knowledgeable guide, Evelyn. The history of the house is so interesting, the house obviously well taken care of and loved. Enjoyed the walk around the garden and a warm lunch. Wonderful day out, will 100% love to return.
We are absolutely stunned by the beauty and atmosphere of Curraghmore. No doubt it is testament to the 'Waterford' ancestry but to the many staff who have worked tirelessly and respectfully towards its upkeep and preservation.
Evelyn, our guide was a wonderful woman, whose love for Curraghmore, is so apparent, we initially thought she was a member of the family!! Her voice is so hypnotising, we believe, it is to her Hollywood should look when they need an Irish accent coach.
Even in the coffee shop, the girls in there made it feel like we were having coffee at a friend's house.
To Lord Waterford, we thank him for allowing us to experience his ancestral home and all the familial, national and international history that goes with it.
Curraghmore House is a VERY unique step back into Irelands’ history. This 800 + year old house is steeped in the history of the political and religious events from 1190 to the current day.
Curraghmore House is not a ruin, not a stop, see, then get back into the car and drive away event. It’s royalty-owners have live here continuously for 800 years - and still do to this day!
I highly recommend the tour which takes you back in time with all the original furnishings and trappings of generations of the family that still live there. The tour is extremely detailed, takes about two hours and is unique in that the pace of the House tour is leisurely.
Plus, if booked ahead of time, I highly recommend to partake in the lunch in the House Tea Room.
The House staff are very informative, knowledgeable, and are from the local area.
In my opinion this tour is the BEST in Southeast Ireland.
Truly, a FIVE STAR ++ experience.
Lovely food, good selection. Lovely helpful staff. Lovely setting. What more could one want?
We'll definitely visit again
