Our local tour guide (having met our cruise ship) suggested this outstanding tour. It was a fairly long drive (about an hour and a half), but it was worth every minute.
The house itself was extremely interesting, and the ground and “shell house” outstanding. Probably best of all was one of the best guides we’ve ever had: Evelyn.
It’s located off the beaten track, and I suppose a little hard to find without some help. But what a special find.

This is a magnificent, currently occupied regal residence, with bucket loads of history, including the crests / coat of arms, superbly relayed by our guide Evelyn, whos passion, dedication & knowledge of the house, couldn't but enthral & captivate our attention.
Suggest read up before visit. We'll be going back for the Curraghmore Whiskey Tour!
Would absolutely recommend.
Even though it was closed in prep for a concert, they were good enough to accommodate us, in a small private group. Most obliging.

We spent the day exploring the house, gardens and attending an evening outdoor dramatic performance. The tour was amazing. The guide Evelyn was well informed and so familiar with the environment it was brilliant. A very special insight. The performance by the members of the Charterhouse Theatre group was stunning and we are planing to repeat the visit next year. Excellent value for money for a unique experience.

Wonderful house still being used as a family residence set in the most spectacular location. The grounds are a must see.
