Lovely food cooked fresh and hot. Very friendly staff in this lovely family run pub. My family go here regular and have tried most things on menu with no faults. Everything has been nice that we've had

Thank Lisa T

The vegetable options get worse and worse for the Sunday carvery. No mash this week. Tinned peas, overcooked sprouts. No parsnips. Gravy and other food still nice, but a bit disappointing.

We ate here twice this holiday. Full price menu. And the £5 menu. And both were very nice. But could do with a bit more care and attention. More vegetable apart from peas . the jacket pots need to be oven cooked. Pork chops are hard to do the best of times. Ours were over done and chewy and came with salad . Salad could of done with a bit of dressing on it. But veg instead of salad would be better. The nice girl that waited on us Needs a bit more training. The use of sauce sachets is my pet hate. Why at these prices are there not bottles Of sauce. The pudding are a good price and very nice but could do with real cream. And more custard. On them. The landlord reminded me of my dad behind our bar, a bit grumpy looking. But OK when smiling. He needs to keep a bit of a smile on his face to stop other customers calling him a grumpy git. Big plus you can take your dog in the pub with you when eating . hope to be back next year.

Returning from a day out we decided to eat out at the Blackboard. We have previously had a Sunday Lunch carvery here and were well satisfied. We arrived just after 5.30 and were offered a full menu and a choice of specials. The menu choice was good and the specials offered two vegetarian options. My wife chose Penne pasta and I chose the sausage and mash. .The portions were generous and came with seasonal vegetables. As we were early we were the only diners and the room was a little cold ans lacked atmosphere ,however the room is well decorated and bright and the toilets clean and well maintained.
