We stayed for 4 nights as a group of 7 (2 couples, 2 single adults, 1 young child and a very happy dog) and enjoyed a lovely stay at Cuil Lodge. The house is warm and welcoming and the surrounding area is perfect for walks, with brooks, lochs large and small and mossy hills aplenty.
The dining room, kitchen and lounge enabled us to cook, dine and hang out together, but the house also has ample space for folk to keep to themselves to read, rest or reflect.
The place was spotless and the owner had made us feel very welcome - we particularly appreciated the fresh flowers in the communal rooms, the nice soaps and the availability of essential items such as toilet paper, tea bags, detergent etc, as well as the fire logs (and the Christmas tree!).
We wanted to get away from the city and this was a perfect spot: we loved being able to saunter up the hills behind the house to enjoy stunning views over Loch Melfort and beyond.

I stayed with five members of my family and a dog, and the lodge was certainly spacious enough for us all.
We loved that the old features had been kept even with the modernisation. Kilmelford is a lovely little hamlet. Nice pub across the road, shop, café and post office next door.
Two recommended walks; not far down the road to a walk along the estuary, past sailing boats and herons. Also up the steep hill above the lodge, there are stunning views for miles and we spotted golden eagles.
Recommendations for nearby Oban; my family enjoyed the Oban Distillery tour, and we'd highly recommend Coastal Connections boat tours.
Also nearby; 'The Bridge over the Atlantic' is quite a sight, and Seil Island is absolutely stunning.
