Erlebnis Post Stadthotel - Hotel mit EigenART
Reviewed 13 September 2016

stayed here on a business seminar for a night and had to share a room. What is fascinating in this hotel is that every room is different. Different theme, different layout, entirely different setup. Truly fantastic. It tends to get a bit noisy towards the road, at least if you are not used to hearing any traffic.
Bed was comfortable, bathroom offered nice towels and shower gel/shampoo. Pretty basic, but certainly sufficient.
The interior of the hotel is really cool, with all kinds of different sitting arrangements, little cars etc. Pay attention to detail or you will miss out on a lot!
Breakfast was very nice, reasonable sized buffet with good variety. Eggs prepared any way on demand. Don't expect highly qualified staff though, more along the lines of someone doing anything from reception to clearing tables (which adds to its charme though).
Could definitely recommend this place if you have to do in the area.

Room Tip: inform yourself about the room beforehand, as you might not like they way it is setup (especially re...

This hotel is a boutique hotel with individually styled rooms & quirky interior & features.
The rooms are comfortable but are maybe a little tired, my room had dim lighting, a light shade hanging on by some cellotape, one that would not switch on & there was no air con. That meant I had to leave the Windows open & hear a lot of road noise. Although I was tired so my sleep was not disturbed.
The pizzeria was amazing, fresh & delicious. The restaurant was good but very filling.
The mini bar in my room was not cold. The shower was good but not well designed. It was awkward to get into the bath with the shower screen and water went through onto the floor.
The staff were however amazingly friendly.
Good overall experience but maybe just some improvements required to bring it back to former glory.

If you find yourself in Spittal an der Drau you could do worse than stay here. Its very friendly (I got a beer from the receptionist as she checked me in). We used the Pizzaria in the hotel which was quite good - proper pizza oven (it only serves pizza) and there is a nice little bar next door. THe rooms are decorated quirkily but clean, comfortable and a good size. I would stay there again! Not much parking but you can park on the road outside overnight.

We spent a night there - what an amazing place. We had to try the Post Box, one of the smaller rooms but nicely equipped and situated. I know Spittal/Drau for many years, Schloss Porcia with its festival is a well known place for Austrians - and I think you would appreciate it too. It is a hotel you will not easily find elsewhere and we are looking forward to visit it again. Personal is friendly and helpful, food is good, and the ambiente is just outstanding. Try it out, have an open mind.

Just five minutes from the Porcia Palace this quirky, eccentric antidote to the big hotel chains offers boutique hotel style with artistic attitude. From the Fiat 500 in the bar to elderly nut-brown and whipcord thin cyclists riding their machines to the reception desk, the hand-labelled lift and the humorous decoration the erudite touches are deft and natural - this is a labour of love, not a designer experiment by an absent mind.

Comfortable, big, airy rooms all individually themed, beautifully cleaned and a church clock that's silent between 9pm and 7am, a bar and restaurant complete what is a must-see hotel in Spittal an der Drau

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
HOTEL ERBLEBNIS POST - SURPRISINGLY DIFFERENT! If you want to enjoy the spectacular landscape of upper Carinthia as well as the infrastructure of the cozy town Spittal/Drau, then combine both with a stay at our Hotel Erlebnis Post, it is spot on for you. Hotel Erlebnis Post is surprisingly different because you won't just find a typically ordinary hotel. At our Hotel you will find surprises around every corner, starting with our own Altar at the Hotel reception, or the distinctly different Business-Theme rooms and then across the corridors you are led to the Post-Box rooms. Which Hotel has its' own Sky-Camp, where you can sleep in a "Severe Chamber" where you are an "Inmate" in an original Prison cell? Also surprisingly different, because Spittal is situated like a Turntable in the centre of the most beautiful Nature highlights of upper Carinthia. Millstaetter See, the local lake is within 5km, the Top-Ski resorts Bad Kleinkirchheim, Katschberg and the Moelltaler Glacier are within 30km. And right on your doorstep is Spittals own home mountain, the Sportberg Goldeck, with the longest black ski slope, that stretches over 8km, of the Alps. Naturally, the Bike- and Mountainwalking places are easily accessible between spring and autumn. No matter if you choose the Maltavalley with the little art town Gmuend or the National Park Nockberge, they are all easily reached by car within 15 to 30 minutes. Follow us on a small round trip through the nature arena of upper Carinthia. The Hotel Erlebnis Post is a solid fixture in the infrastructure of Spittal. With its' own Passage-Shopping Alley, with a Café and Cocktail Bar - our "Glashaus", and with its own brewery, the indoor Smoker and the legendary pizzeria. Also with "Zellot", the Hotels own Restaurant which is also one of the best eating places in upper Carinthia. You as our guest in the middle of it all - let us surprise you and become enchanted. We look forward to welcoming you! ... more   less
