The Old Repeater Station is located a few kilometres beyond Housesteads Fort on the Hadrian's Wall path. It is the only place for miles around to stay near the wall, so you must book months in advance if you are walking the Hadrian's Wall - we booked in January for our stay in May as it fills up quickly having limited capacity. The room was functional, two bunk beds for 3 adults, but was perfectly comfortable and clean. The ensuite shower room was much better than I expected. Where this place scores highly is that staying here is an experience in itself. The host, Les, is nicely eccentric and staggers time slots for dinner and breakfast! You possibly may have to share tables, but this was fine as our fellow travellers were charming company and we were grateful to swap advice and information. Dinner was a straight choice of tuna or chicken, and the cooked breakfast was flexible choice-wise. There is a bar, can't remember if it was an honesty bar, and a comfortable lounge area. Despite being situated in an isolated spot on the Old Military Road, traffic is infrequent later in the evening and we got a great night's sleep. For thing is for sure, you will always remember this place, it's one of a kind.

Room Tip: Book months in advance as it sells out very quickly

To stay somewhere where you feel instantly welcome, enjoy great food but, more important, have a wonderful time with the host is rare. Les is a truly great guy, whose humour (often at my pompous expense), was wonderful. Allied to a super dinner and equal breakfast, our stay lacked only one thing. And that was our energy to chat with Les for longer, as he told fascinating tales and took an interest on us.

Stayed here as a very last minute trip to visit Hadrians Wall. Lovely secluded location with just fields and sheep to see from the windows. Les, the host was wonderful, checked us in quickly and was very knowledgeable about the local area and where best to get great food. On arriving back from the local pub we were offered hot drinks and alcoholic beverages! The rooms are spacious and well appointed with amenities and clean bathroom etc. Happily surprised to find multiple different types of tea, coffee and even hot chocolate and biscuits in the room! Great stay, would definitely recommend!

An excellent place to stay when walking Hadrian's Wall. We arrived soaked to the skin and very bedraggled with 2 small people in tow; we were a little worried that we might be unpopular guests in such a state but a place to dry our gear and newspaper for our boots was immediately provided and a warm room and hot supper put us all to rights in no time. As others have commented, the b&b almost has a hostel-like feel to it but with en suites and fewer rooms! Highly recommended. Thank you Les.

Walking Hadrian’s Wall this summer we found the Old Repeater Station -- a sweet little tardis-like stay right off the trail. No Wall walk is complete without an evening with Les. A relaxing place to kick off your boots, enjoy a celebratory toast, delicious locally-sourced evening meal with fellow walkers, and a night-cap (into the wee hours) with our host… all wrapped up with a scrumptious morning breakfast and kind send off. Not to be missed. An evening at the Repeater Station is truly part of the whole Wall experience.
