The Odysseus has most of the things you'd expect in a hotel at this price [we went in autumn on a good-value last-minute deal] and is friendly and well-situated.
What makes it stand out are the outstanding views, from the pools and public areas and - worth paying extra for - the sea-view rooms.
We were on a B&B deal so cannot comment on the evening meals, though the breakfasts were pleasant enough, with fine Greek yogurt and wonderful local honey. Lunch by the very pleasant pool was excellent value and served by lovely staff. A ten minute walk brings you to a range of tavernas of varying price and quality - something for all tastes.
Buses stop by the hotel to take you to Corfu Town - well worth a visit - and to other parts of this beautiful island. If you're fit, there are good walks in the area, some of them on the steep side as this is the mountainous part of the isalnd.
Unluckily, we had several days of wind and rain during our stay, which meant no boats trips around the various interlinked bays of Paleokastritsa. A pity, as when the sun's out the blue bays are a delight.
The friendliness of the staff in the hotel was matched by that of the local people we met in tavernas, bars and shops, though it's fair to say we were there off-season.
I would happily stay at the Odysseus again, at the right price, in this beautiful part of Corfu.

Room Tip: Any sea view.

I`ve stayed in Odysseus together with my husband for a week. The staff was very polite and useful all of them were speaking English. The rooms were nice and clean, not luxury but we was not looking for that anyway. The food was delicious. The only thing I didn`t enjoy was the program, I was expecting Greek style evening with dances instead it was Italian and French songs...
The main beach was about 10 min walk from the hotel, beautiful, just breathtaking, u can hire a water taxi so you can visit the other beaches, the coast of Paleokastritsa is stunning :) But the beaches are not so sandy but with pebbles so bring aqua shoes it will make it so much easy to walk on :)

Another amazing holiday with wonderful, as usual, accommodation at the Odysseus.
Korina and family are so friendly and helpful.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and I cannot praise the staff enough.
Will miss waking up to those wonderful views from our room. Never mind we’ll be back again in June.

Room Tip: The superior rooms and suite are to die for. Treat yourselves.

We stayed at the Odysseus the first week of September, and it will be a week to remember for a long time.
The hotel its self is situated about 50m above a small pebble beach (no taverna or showers), with amazing views towards the south. About a 8 minute walk down hill is the main beach. It is sandy with a good choice of places to eat at lunch, as well as the typical choice of shops selling beach wear and souvenirs. There are lot's of sunbeds to hire, 8 euros for two beds and an umbrella. This beach can get busy, due to the large amount of water taxis that drop people of throughout the day.
My favorite beach was a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction from the hotel. Flat road to walk along, then a series of steps to get down to the beach. It is a pebble beach, again with sunbeds to hire if you wish. In high season, get to the beach before 11 to ensure that you get a bed. There isn't much space if you want to lie on a towel. Has a fantastic beach bar - Akron with a wide selection for lunch. A second beach bar is also available but we didn't like this one as much. Showers are also available on the beach. Akron used to be a small hotel, which recently became just a restaurant. Because of this, there is a beautiful pool over looking the sea which the public can use. I was also informed by another guest when we were leaving that the Akrotiri Hotel, right on the beach also has an infinity pool that if you ask at reception you can use (as long as you buy the beer!).

The staff at the hotel were wonderful. It is family run, resulting in a very warm and 'homely' feel. There is a nice bar and veranda area, which is beautiful to sit in at any time of day.

The food. I did read reviews before I left about the food at this hotel. Most of it is true I have to say. The breakfasts we quite enjoyed, fresh croissants and a small selection of fruit. One rather bland cereal, one greek plain yoghurt, two jams, honey. The cooked breakfast consist of beans, all types of egg, baklava, small frankfurter sausage, sometimes bacon. I never had a cooked breakfast as I don't eat a lot in the morning, but my boyfriend said he thought it was good.
Dinner is a little bit 'school-dinner style'. Served 8 till 9, it is a little restricting. There is always a salad bar which I don't think altered all week, then a selection of hot dishes. Not hugely inspiring it has to be said, but you could eat as much as you liked and it tasted ok.
Unfortunately, Paleokastritsa is a rather spaced out town, so if you don't go half board then it is a walk (or drive) to another taverna. There are a couple of tavernas across the road, some still open on the main beach too. My recommendation, if you would like something a bit special, is to go back to Akron beach bar. It converts its self into an almost fine dining experience. You can chose from a selection of 4 starters and mains each which are served brilliantly and tastes amazing. By far my best meal in Corfu. A beautiful romantic setting next to the beach with little lanterns everywhere.

If you want to explore Corfu a bit, renting a car is cheap (40euros, fiat punto + AC). We drove up to Angalokastro, very winding roads, sometimes steep but worth it when you get to the top, the views are epic. From there, we drove to Sidari-very 'british' town, lots of bars and shops...long exposed sandy beach. We went to look at the limestone formations at the very west of the beach, quite nice for a little stop. Angalokastro-sidari ~ 50 mins. From Sidari we went to Kassiopi for lunch. Much nicer, it is a little town with a small picturesque harbor. Lots of tavernas to eat in. Sidari-Kassipoi ~ 20 mins. From a previous trip to Corfu I new about a little beach called Agni bay. A little more upmarket, it has 2 main tavernas on the beach, and 2 beach bars. Very very beautiful, the sea is crystal clear and lots of great snorkeling. From Kassiopi to Agni is about 10mins. The drive down to Agni is steep, but not winding. From Kassiopi you have to drive through Kentroma, Agni is signposted just after the village.
From Agni back to Paleokastritsa is about an hour.
I would say that the drive along the North East coast is not one to miss. It is beautiful. I also know that Nissaki is a very nice place to stop, but we didn't have time.

Overall, don't let the food put you off this hotel. It really is a very special little place. We had room 220, Overlooking the pool, and then on to the sea. Very comfortable, no noise. Perfect.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room. Worth the extra expense. We had 220, was exactly what we wanted.
