We have just returned from a super week at the Trapezaki Bay Hotel on Kefalonia, our first visit to this lovely island.
We had a rear corner room (Poseidon), with two balconies, and views over the bay and Mount Aenos.
The hotel only has 33 rooms, so an excellent service is virtually guaranteed.
We were welcomed at the airport in the evening by Soula and the minibus driver, and Nikos at the hotel, and had our bags taken to our room.
The hotel has a very relaxing, laid back atmosphere, although Niko's and Sofia's friendly team are ready and able to help with advice and respond to your needs.
If you're more into sightseeing than sunbathing, a car is essential, as the hotel is a little remote and public transport virtually non-existent.
Hiring a car is well worth it, as there are plenty of villages, resorts and other attractions to visit.
We chose the last week of September, as we tend to avoid the hottest months, and we had 5 or 6 days of temperatures between 20-26 C. I understand May is also a good time to visit the island for similar conditions.
If we ever return to Kefalonia, and Niko and Sofia still own this hotel, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else.
