Hotell is fine, nothing fancy, food is ok, price is not bad, rooms are ok, a little understaffed but very good service once it's "your turn". Best part is you can park right outside your room. For motorcyclists this is a luxury indeed !

.. and the view over Saltstraumen is great !

Saltstraumen hotel offers regular hotel rooms as well as cottages. We chose to share a cottage with our friends, and I'd say we made a good choice. The cottages are situated right by the hotel and are priced similarly to corresponding hotel rooms. The staff in the reception were wonderfully service minded and helpful. The breakfast buffet wasn't quite as good as expected - they might have had a bad day?

My main suggestion though: make sure you spend enough time at Saltstraumen! The current changes direction every six, or so, hours and the arctic summer light changes all the time, as the sun just skirts the horizon, but doesn't actually set (in summer).

We flew up from Oslo to spend a few nights in a cabin here & having been assured the kitchen had an oven, stopped at a supermarket on the outskirts of Bodo to pick up provisions (including some food to be cooked in an oven). When we arrived, however, the cabin had no oven!! After some "discussion" we were given the keys to another cabin which did have an oven... but no water so we could not stay in it! (So we were cooking in one cabin then rushing the food to the other where we were living.) This after arriving to discover the cabin had no bedding - it was not mentioned either on the hotel website or during a conversation via email that guests were expected to bring their own bedding or pay an extra charge to have it provided. Nor had the hotel staff checked that the previous occupants had cleaned the cabin (another requirement) as we found tomato ketchup smeared across the windows and the decked entrance.
That being said, the cabin, although basic, was certainly adequate & quite comfortable and cosy.

We paid 1295 NOK for a twin room and were out in one of the lodges, down a tunnel and backing on to the car park. The rooms were small and despite some attempts to appear classy (mini-quilts on the foot of the bed) not especially nice.

The restaurant only has a buffet in the evening (no fresh food) so much better to walk 10 minutes to Kafe Kjelen.

Gym fine, ask for a key from reception.
