We spent the last week in February 2019 in this wonderful hotel. Starting from the arrival at the airport we had a fantastic time in Lapland. The hotel arranged the transfer from the airport, which worked without any problems or delays. We had a booked a nice, modern and charming room in the hotel. Everything was very clean, the food was fantastic and also the hospitality. It is a nice, quiet and beautiful area, which helps a lot to slow down and relax. We have been extremly lucky to see fantastic Northern lights during 2 nights. In addition we had wonderful activities like a tour to the northern ocean, a husky tour, hiking with snow shoes etc. All activities have been perfectly organised from the hotel and here also a special Thanks to our guides, Antti, Henna & Anne. All of them did a fabulous job to make this week to a very special and unforgettable time. Not to forget an impressive traditional dinner at a Sami hut. Thanks to all for a fantastic week and hope to see you again in the future !

This is a magical place in northern Finland, remote, quiet and beautiful but also warm, cosy and welcoming
This is the fifth time we have travelled to Northern Europe for a winter break and it was definitely the best.
It is a family owned hotel where guests are made to feel very welcome and the standard of hospitality is high. The rooms are large, stylish and comfortable with fabulous views across the river to the Norwegian fells. Unusually for mainland Europe, each room has a kettle with tea and coffee making facilities and a refrigerator. The bathroom is large with an excellent shower
The meals in the restaurant are of a high standard with a large choice and very large servings! The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly
Guests are provided with warm outdoor boots and clothing and free use of kick sledges, skis and snowshoes - of excellent quality
There are organised activities - snowshoeing, a trip to a reindeer farm with a sleigh ride, husky dog sledding, cross country skiing .....
The guides are personable and knowledgeable and go out of their way to help. Also, because the holiday village is owned by a Saami family, there is ample opportunity to learn about Saami culture and customs
The highlight of our trip was an Aurora Tour with one of the guides. You can see the Northern lights from the hotel but to be taken out on a sledge through the forest onto the high fell for a 360 degree view was just magical. Also, the guide is an expert on the aurora and knows where to go and when for best chance of seeing it
The trip to the Arctic Ocean was another highlight
All in all, a fabulous place run by lovely people

Room tip: Al the rooms are quiet with great views

Everything at Holiday Village Valle was wunderful! The Hotel was very clean and charming, we also could see Northern Lights from our hotel room and enjoyed the sauna several times. We enjoyed the program so much- we had such wonderful, amazing and unique moments, which we will never forget! The food at the Restaurant Deatnu was very very delicious, also special wishes were no problem, even a complete raw food diet were fulfilled in a perfect way that we never saw in any other hotel. The kitchen created wunderful meals with love. The service and the guides were also very nice and helped in every situation. All in all it was perfect.

We took the Northern Lights package with Holiday Village Valle in mid Dec 2018. Still a quiet season before Christmas, we almost have the whole place to ourselves. We stayed four nights in a cabin for our family of four. The cabin is very well maintained, I would say, tip top condition. Sufficient hot water, nicely adjusted heaters in the rooms, well equipped kitchen, a sauna and a lovely front porch facing the Teno River. We never felt cold in any way during our stay in the cabin. There is also a nice huge dryer in the walkway to our cabin to dry up our thermal accessories quickly, which is great. The only thing we lamented is short daylight hours to enjoy the magnificent view from our front porch as we were out during most of our daylight hours for our activities! Hours with some daylight is only from 9.30am to about 2pm during this polar night season of the year.

Our package includes half board. We arrived late into midnight and our first dinner was packed in our cabin ready for us, which was very nice. It includes nice smoked raw local fish and salmon which we like very much. Breakfast is buffet style at Deatnu Restaurant. For dinner, one of the night was reindeer special, which we must declare it was a bit too strong taste to our comfort level. Another night's Christmas spread special was very nice though.

We were in Finland with the main objective to view Northern Lights, as well as for snow activities specifically within Finland. We went for reindeer safari, huskies safari as well as skiing and sleighing along slopes around the resort location, and ice fishing. And of course, the lights! On the first night, it was very cloudy. We did not go out. On the second night, it was still partially cloudy. Our guides drove us around in search of a clear sky to wait for the lights. And we did manage to find a location, and saw a small display of the lights. Not a very strong one, but we were all very happy to catch this, especially this was after almost one hour of driving around. After we left and went back to our cabin, we still manage to see the lights dimly in the sky from our front porch, changing its display every minute. On the third night, the sky is cloudless. We took a hike from the resort to a high ground nearby, about 1km away. It was a great place on top of a slope with clearing, no obstruction, clear sky, no unnatural lights nearby and our guides set up a nice warm fire as we waited for the lights. The light did come, although it was quite a wait. Again not a very strong display, but it was still a nice experience for us, after a great walk. Again, after we went back to our cabin, the light display in the sky continued on well into the night. We took some pictures of it even from our cabin, although not very bright, but considering there's road lamp nearby, this is quite a good exposure. We were all satisfied with our little encounters with the light display during our stay here.

I must commend on our guides, Antti and Henna, who were with us during our whole stay here. Professional and helpful, they made us feel comfortable and relaxed. We all have an enjoyable time with their guidance and advice. Also, our camera is a whole knockout during the light display. Not a professional with DSLR, we were not able to take pictures of the lights, and if not for the expertise of our great guides, we would not have the nice photos to take back with us for great memories. Thank you again, Antti and Henna, for the wonderful experience we had in Utsjoki.

Room tip: Stay in the cabins to be on the river front. Cabins are for groups of four.

We spent one night + had dinner at Valle and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed at the hotel building in a lovely, modern room with views towards Norway and river Teno. We had an amazing dinner (the Teno sashimi is to die for) and really enjoyed both the food and the hospitality and attitude of the staff. It was also fun to sit outside and enjoy a drink, watching the fishermen and listening to their stories. The small herd of reindeer sleeping under the hotel rooms' windows was an added bonus. Highly recommend this place!
