Three course lunch menu is a great way to get a taste of this michelin starred cuisine while keeping it very affordable! Steak tartare was very good. Interesting flavour combination in the risotto and traditional plin ravioli were also very tasty. Finally the zabaione was outstanding, accompanied by crunchy buttery torcetti. Delicious!

I have been to La Gardenia many times through several years and I used to like it very much.

My last visit , yesterday, was a disappointment.

The choreography of small tastings has become a show without substance , and the quality of the main dishes has deteriorated dramatically ( for instance a roasted turbot with ridiculously small portions ad the skin left on it ).

The feeling is now of a company cafeteria with prepackaged dishes ready for the microwave oven.

Gone is the feeling of a high quality restaurant where the chef does special things expressly for you.

And at this quality level the price is too high.

We were traveling around "Barolo Wine" country and happened upon this restaurant. It started out as a visit to the cantina to purchase some wine. After meeting the chef we decided to have lunch. We tried the special menu which ended up being a seven course meal. A couple of those services were not on the menu, but provided as a special serving by the chef. The meal was on the pricey side - 85 Euro. expensive for a lunch setting. Of all the plates served the risotto was the best. We were served a small raw fish plate - not appetizing at all - too fishy! The sliced beef serving (tagliata de manzo) was pretty good - not a Michelin level service, but pretty good. It was a good meal. Not worth the price, so the value was not there. we purchased a few cases of Barolo wine at the cantina which were very reasonably priced. They have a herb garden on premises used for their meals - they're specialty is meals with herbs infused, accented, etc.

There were a-la-cart items on the menu we probably should have went for rather than the special menu. Probably would have had a better value experience.

This restaurant was recommended by the chef in another 'top' restaurant that was full, and his recommendation was outstanding. This was one of the best restaurant meals I have had with impeccable polite, helpful service, despite our lack of any Italian. Greeted by the chef, we were poured a wonderful local sparkling wine. A very regional menu was presented including hare, ravioli with sausage and cabbage, and excellent steak. All was perfectly cooked and presented in a beautifully decorated room. Desserts were also delicious. I had a collection of different chocolate mousse with red fruits, which was described as 'Chocolate path' on the translated menu, and I would highly recommend it. All-in-all we had a fantastic meal which made our brief one night stay in the area one to remember for ever. I'm sure that we will return.
