We arrived at the hotel by boat. Rooms were ok. No connecting rooms. Staff is friendly. During our stay the restaurant only served breakfast (bread & eggs). Down the road there is a small restaurant where we enjoyed dinner. For Don Kho this is probably one of the most comfortable hotels, especially for families. For backpackers there are a lot of guest houses available.

Very large Mekong-view rooms start at $60, with non-view rooms going for $50. All Mekong view rooms have a balcony as well as a bathtub with shower but no shower curtain. Non-view rooms have an enclosed shower only. http://www.ssxhotel.com

TV with two English stations including CNN, a minibar (with 2 complimentary bottles of water per day), decent space for hanging clothes, but limited drawer space, a writing/makeup table with mirror and chair, and 2 night tables. BTW all the chairs in the room, restaurant, and balcony are straight-backed wood chairs with no cushions and thus are uncomfortable if you are seated for more than a few minutes. They claim to have wifi in the rooms, but in fact it only works in the restaurant. There are 4 computers for guests use in the restaurant. Internet access is 700 kip/min or $10 per stay.

Cleanliness is not their long suit. Stained tablecloths, sticky placemats, dust behind most of the furniture in the room, and the cream coloured bedspreads make it clear that it has been some time since they were washed.

They charge significantly more for most things than in “town” (e.g., bike rental = 20,000kip vs. 10,000, water = 7,000kip vs. 2,000, laundry = 20,000kip vs. 10,000/kg, a bottle of wine is over $30). They make the best lime juice (as elsewhere, it’s called lemon juice) that I have had in all of SE Asia – and they serve it hot or cold. There are no non-Asian food selections at the restaurant. However, breakfast consists of eggs, toasted sliced baguette, packaged jam and butter, coffee, tea, or lime juice, and a plate of sliced fresh fruit.

a new hotel only metres from the mekong the senesothxeune hotel looks superb from the outside and the rooms were large and spotless with a good bathroom, although there was still a bit of building work going on it did not inconvenience us in any way, the outdoor eating/bar area was nice and relaxed and the staff were really friendly , a walk along the river takes you to the centre of this really chilled out place just wish we had spent more time here
