PROS
My wife and I along with another 20 people were invited by friends for Afternoon Tea in the billaird room. This is a beautiful place to visit. The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing was a bother. It was nice to get fresh sandwiches and fancy cakes along with tea and coffee. The staff made sure we were well looked after.
CONS
I am disabled and before going I phoned the hotel to ask if it was disabled friendly. The receptionist said yes, there were steps but they put down a ramp which is used by Wheelchair users. I use a Scooter and two Walking Sticks.
For a start you have to get to a side door from the car park where they place a ramp for entry. To get to this door is a nightmare. The car park is tarred but from there on it is covered in chuckies. For people with Wheelchairs or Scooter users or people with Walking Sticks this is a NO GO. The wheels of either sink into the chuckies and you are stopped in your tracks.
The staff were very helpful with the ramp but to get there was the problem as we did not know which door to enter by. If the hotel laid down slabs from the car park to the to the side entrance this would work and make the hotel easier access for someone disabled. The toilet across from the billaird room, If handles were fitted to the walls this would be a great help. I had to use this toilet because there were steps down to get to the disabled toilet in the ballroom.
Even though I had problems it was well worth the time and effort to enjoy the afternoon tea.

Although the wedding experience with friends and family was very enjoyable, I have to say it was tainted by the policies and hosting capabilities of the hotel.
It was strongly felt they did not have the level of expertise to deliver a satisfactory level of service to such an important event.
In addition, it appears that the policy of this hotel is to exploit their wedding guests by grossly inflating their bar prices. A prime example of this is 2 nips of Glenffidich whisky costing the groom and a family member £32 ...yes...you read this right. £8 for a glass of wine, £2.50 for a dash of coke/lemonade, and at one point, a member of the staff apologised for the prices, stating the price hike was for the "upkeep of the hotel".
Personally, I find this an abhorrent decision by the hotel management which can only be perceived as exploiting the good will and nature of the wedding party as a whole.
Worst of all and completely unacceptable was the fact that they knew there were small children attending the wedding and with a four hour gap before the main meal, there were absolutely no provisions for snacks or bites made behind the two bars in the hotel. This review is echoed by many of the guests and I truly hope the management learn from their mistakes. As a result, I would not recommend this venue for a wedding party.

Stayed at this beautiful hotel whilst in the area for business. Found it to be very reasonably priced on Hotels website. Booked in for one night, when I arrived the reception was lovely and warm. Shown to my room on the second floor, room had fantastic views over the snow covered mountain. The room was lovely, en suite was fabulous with underfoor heating and very clean and tidy. Good WiFi in the room and the bed was one of the nicest I’ve ever slept in. Only criticism would be the hike from reception to the rooms, togged up in coats and carrying heavy bags it was a mammoth trek up and down stairs and corridors, but hey it’s an old building. Eat in the restaurant that night, the food was lovely, portion size was a tad small but I do have a healthy appetite! Service was brilliant and the staff were very attentive and pleasant. I would definitely recommend staying, and will do so myself again. Thank you.
