Donna I

A gem of a property and hostess

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 9 Jul 2018
My husband and I stayed at Rogers Island for three nights and our experience far exceeded our expectations. It has a farm-house feel and is very tastefully decorated. Although the house does not have air conditioning, our room, the William and Maggie room, had a fan and was well ventilated. Located on the front of the house, the windows and balcony door allowed a nice breeze to flow through the room. Elaine is a wonderful lady, who felt like an old friend. Her breakfasts are amazing!! She was extremely accommodating and made us feel very comfortable. She flies the flag of her guests' home province/country on the flagpole, which is a classy, welcoming touch. We hated to leave and would definitely stay there again, when visiting the island.
Date of stay: July 2018
Room Tip: The William and Maggie room is the largest of the three rooms and has a small balcony

My girlfriend and I spent 2 nights at the beautiful Rogers Island Getaway B&B and after our experience I would definitely recommend the B&B for anybody visiting Central PEI.

The lady running the B&B, Elaine, is wonderful to be around and during our stay she constantly make the effort to make sure that everything was running smoothly and that we were enjoying ourselves.

Every morning she would cook up an incredible world class breakfast that really helped to get the day started on the right foot. Everything she prepared was amazing and the eggs benedict were the best I've ever had in all of Canada!

The property itself boasts a prime location right in the center of PEI with easy access to all of the main tourist sites. Charlottetown is just 40 minutes away by car and Green Gables is about 25 minutes away.

Just 5 minutes from the B&B is the small town of Kensington where you'll be able to find some small shops and restaurants if you're looking for something to eat later in the day.

The actual home that the B&B is located in seems to have been designed by an expensive interior designer but everything was done by Elaine - yes, she’s that skilled!

There are three different rooms at the B&B and each of them are well equipped for a short-term stay, We had the smallest room right at the top of the stairs but for my girlfriend I it was perfect for our visit to PEI because we weren't spending too much time in the room anyways and there was plenty of comfortable seating and cozy areas in the rest of the house.

The whole House seems to have been designed to make sure that guests feel right at home and that they're comfortable during their visit - everything was so well put together you might not even want to leave!

Having stayed at more than a dozen different B&Bs here in Eastern Canada I would have to say that the Rogers Island Getaway B&B is one of the best I've ever stayed at and I would definitely recommend it if you're going to be visiting PEI.

Room tip: All of the rooms are amazing!

The hostess is meticulous, and the bed and breakfast is beautifully and lovingly decorated. The breakfast was stupendous, including Eggs Benedict, a fruit salad, and scone. All were homemade and all delicious. There were home-made mini muffins to snack on during the day as well. We very much enjoyed our chats with both the host and hostess.

I admit when we first arrived at the inn I was concerned we were so far out in the country but I soon discovered that was one of its best features. It was wonderful to be outside of the busy Charlottetown and near quaint little towns and beaches.
Elaine is just the best host and the inn is picture perfect inside and out. She immediately greeted us and showed us around the downstairs common areas and kitchen. She told us the house is for the guests so use it as such and then gave me a lovely glass of wine. What a welcome! Our room (#2) faced the street but it was quiet even with windows open. I am always concerned when there is no ac but our room stayed delightfully cool!! I really enjoyed our bathroom as well!!
Each morning she fixed us a different entrée but we always started with a lovely muffin and fruit tray. Our 1st day we had waffles and fresh crushed berries and our 2nd day we had scrambled eggs and French toast. Both were so delicious and plentiful that we made it right thru until dinner!!!
The whole house is designed to make the guests comfortable and it did!! It was a lovely setting to get to know other guests and it was fun to see which national flag would be hanging outside honoring them!!
We will definitely stay here again if we get back to PEI.

This is the example of how to do it right. The house is delightfully furnished and and cozy with a lovely verandah to sip your wine as the sun goes down. Elaine is an artist in her design and attention to details. Breakfasts are gourmet, her delight in the oohs and aahs she gets from her guests an obvious pleasure to her. Our room was charming and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom has a nice shower unit and no detail for guests comfort is overlooked right down to nightly chocolates and bottled water.
The location is central to Prince Edward Island and we had no problem getting to any point of the island. The nearest town, Kensington is two miles away and on Route 2, the main highway that crosses the island from one end to the other.
We intend to go back and I thoroughly recommend this perfect B & B.
