Description: Exquisite, Perfection, Tantalising, Heavenly, Divine........Just some of the many compliments we have received about the new dining experience that we offer at the newly refurbished "Cross Keys Hotel - Bar and Restaurant" in Nantgarw. Under the New Management of Christine and her family, the Cross Keys has been lovingly restored to new heights. A former 18th Century Tollgate on the old Merthyr to Cardiff road, the Cross Keys has risen like a Phoenix from the Ashes to become a Smart, Relaxed, and Unique Bar and Dining experience offering that something extra special. Warm vibrant colours and relaxed settings welcome every guest to The Cross Keys. Allow us to tease those tastebuds with fine quality dining, complimented by the excellent and wide range of drinks from our Bar to give you an experience that will leave you wanting to come back for more.

As per the last review both the mobile number and landline listed everywhere on the net doesn't work. The landline is not recognised and the mobile puts you through to the same grumpy bloke.

Called the mobile number listed - which was answered very abruptly by a rude man - not a very good first impression - (I did double check and I dialled correctly) they lost my business as a result

Please give this place a chance. Visited for a quiet pint last Friday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Comfy furniture with jukebox playing with very friendly staff and locals. Not too busy but hopefully for the owners will pick up. Definitely going to make it our weekly watering hole.

Looking at previous reviews we were expecting a good meal here. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. We walked in and asked if food was being served. The waiter looked confused, and then told us they had little stock in, and no steaks, as the delivery was late. OK, we opted for fish and chips and ribs instead. Going to the bar to order our food at about 12.30 lunchtime, it took 10 minutes for the server to even notice we were there, let alone ask us what we wanted.

The food was luke-warm - not cold enough to complain about when we were in a hurry to go to a house viewing, but quite disappointing. The flavour of the ribs I ordered was ok but felt like it had all come out of a packet and been heated in the microwave. My partner had fish and chips which was clearly straight out of the freezer.

A good point is that the portions are a good size and the price is cheap (£7 for fish and chips and £10 for ribs). My ribs came with a mound of rice and chips not mentioned on the menu and the fish and chips came with peas and salad. Slightly random pairings but definitely filling.

it appears the pub is under new management and the food and service are lacking. No one asked us if the food was ok, and we had to ask for sauces as the ones on the table had run out - poor when there was only one other table in..

There was a strange film on in the background (some kind of Nazi war film!), which was quite distracting as it was really loud. Perhaps some music would have helped the atmosphere.
