“Perfect little house”
Reviewed 16 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Gorgeous house in a gorgeous location. Everything about the little house was perfect. The fresh bread, milk, wine and cake left for us on our arrival was lovely. The owners Bill and Jeanette were really friendly and have the house feeling loved and very well cared for. Everything was spotlessly clean and they have catered for everything you need. The village Marnhull is lovely with a good pub, The Crown, a short walk away selling good food and drink. Well positioned for everything Dorset has to offer too. Don't have a bad thing to say about this place. We loved it.

“Everything you could need for a lovely stay!”
Reviewed 31 December 2016 for a stay in November 2016

Situated in a tiny village, Marnhull, The Little House is in a great location to visit Salisbury, Shaftesbury and many other towns that make up pretty Dorset. The cottage itself is located in a small free village car park which is ideal if you have any extra cars (there is a designated space for one car). This may seem a bit strange at first but really wasn't an issue as the location is very quiet. The village has a small array of shops including a butcher and post office which are about a minute walk away from the house. (Can recommend the nearby Udder Farm shop for a great breakfast with local produce!) One thing I would say is it is very dark if you're driving at night as there are no street lights so would recommend arriving in daylight on your first night to avoid getting lost...

The house itself is semi-detached and there is neighbour access to the back of the property so you may see people walking back and forth from the lounge, from time to time. It is lovely with a modern, fresh feel and is basically a home from home - there is everything you could need! Of the two double bedrooms, the bedroom in the eaves upstairs is a really good size with its own ensuite. The downstairs bedroom has a separate bathroom which has a good-sized shower (and excellent water pressure!) No baths though, if you happen to be a bath person but this didn't bother us. The beds are also comfy with nice pillows and thick duvets. Towels and a hair dryer are provided.

There is a good sized flat screen TV with a DVD player and lots of DVDs to choose from. The wood burner in the lounge adds to the cosy feel but there is very adequate heating too. The kitchen seems new and is well appointed with all the appliances you could need including a washing machine and docking station. They also provide the basics like washing up liquid, liquid tablets, clothes horse, pegs, Hoover, cleaning products, etc. There is more than enough good quality crockery and cutlery to keep you going. No problem with wifi either (mobile signal isn't great though but that's to be expected).

The owners are a lovely couple and very kindly left some goodies, giving us a warm welcome. It's easy to see they have put a lot of care, thought and attention into the property.

Would definitely return to this corner of the world!

“Little House with a big heart”
Reviewed 25 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Quiet location
Large sprawling village, The Little House is located near the centre by the General Store incorporating the Post Office (which is open from 8am 7 days a week, quality butchers and hairdressers.
Everything provided was of good quality.
There was plenty of hot water. Central heating quick and efficient. Poor mobile signal but Wi-Fi made up for it.
The upstairs bedroom has an en-suite shower; the downstairs bedroom has a separate shower room.
Friendly owners (Bill and Netty), who live next door, came to see us on the first evening checking everything was alright. Bill also came to see us on the last evening to make sure we had had an enjoyable stay at their cottage and there were no problems. The locals were always friendly.
The cottage had 1 car parking space allocated to it but further free parking was available in the adjoining village public car park. The kitchen looked out on to the car park while the lounge and bedrooms overlooked the small rear garden. Plenty of walks from the front door.
Good location to visit National Trust houses, Haines Motor Museum, Sherborne, Bridport, Weymouth, Longleat and Stonehenge.
