Mountains and forest come together with these wonderful wood sculptures. Well worth the rough gravel road and somewhat steep hiking. Then venture further uphill to the refugio for a nice snack and refreshments. Beautiful views and variety of sculptures seem to change with each turn of the trail.

Lovely hike at sunset, especially up to the Refugio. It's a shame it's only accessible by car or an expensive taxi ride.

The sculptures are very creative and all are very different from each other. Lovely thing to do in a half day in El Bolson.

One can drive up to a parking platform or hike to the platform from town. Then in about a steep 20 minute walk, the sculpture park reveals itself. It is an amazing and surprising find. The artists are inventive in taking advantage of the wood. Then one can hike up to the refugio for a nice snack and great view of the valley.

We had a rental car and drove up to the platform to start the hike. I'd highly recommend driving or catching a ride up that far...the walk prior up the gravel road doesn't look very exciting. We passed a couple of taxis on the way up so that's an option also. Starting the hike from the platform leaves about 1km to the sculptures and another 1/2 km to the Refugio. It's moderately steep but not bad. Great views from the Rufugio so I'd highly recommend going on up after enjoying the sculptures. The sculptures are cool and if you continue on up to the Refugio and the mirador it make for a great day trip!

I hitchhiked to the trailhead with some other hostelers, and the short hike up to the bosque tallado is definitely worth it. The carved trees are beautiful and intriguing, and the view is unbelievable. Keep hiking up to the refugio, and to the mountaintop if you have the time, the scenery is beyond gorgeous.
