Believe it or not, this was the first time that I have stayed at Premier Inn since it re-branded. I used to be a regular customer of the various businesses that have come together to create Premier Inn, but had come to a conclusion that the mergers had ruined some good budget chains. So why stay now? Quite simply, the price.
Arriving at 1am in the morning, we were impressed by the security measures and were met at the front door by 2 (yes, two) members of staff who introduced themselves by name, walked us through the new computerised self check in, and made arrangements for us to have breakfast. They even offered assistance to carry our luggage. (Such a change from one of the other chains where the receptionist is usually fast asleep when we arrive, and then takes umbrage when asked for an extra towel.....) Breakfast was overseen by another member of staff who also introduced herself by name, and although limited to a continental breakfast, was really very good.
