Just got back from Astra Village having stayed for 2 weeks from July 21st 2017. This place is in a great location with excellent modern furnished rooms. There are 2 pools, one for adults only that was totally chilled out and although it was relatively small there was never an issue getting a sunbed even after a lie in!.
We stayed bed and breakfast and I would describe the breakfast as no more than adequate. By the second week we were skipping breakfast and having lunch either at the Astra bar or at some of the other local café bars.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful and a special mention for Panos in the café bar who was always very chatty and friendly.
Room included aircon and safe at no extra cost which is not always the case at some places. The apartments were always clean with regular visits from the maids and the sea view from the room was brilliant.
My concern initially when we booked was that we would have to walk down the hill to Hersonnisos in order to make sure we could enjoy a varierty of restaurants in the evening but there was no need at all. We ate at a different restaurant every night whilst there and we did not have a bad meal. We could have stayed another fortnight and not covered them all. If you like Greek food then there are loads of Tavernas serving up their own ideas and variations of traditional Greek dishes.
The restaurants are all very friendly and whilst they do try and get any passers by to go in they are very polite if you decline.
I would definitely recommend Astra Village if you want a quiet chilled out holiday with pleasant staff and no fighting over sunbeds . If they could maybe try a bit harder with the breakfasts it would be great (the paid for breakfast in the Astra Bar was excellent).
If you have children and especially teenagers with you there is not much going on for them but our two were old enough to make their way down to Hersonnisos in the evening after our meal where it was much livelier.
All in all a great holiday and I would not hesitate recommending Astra Village apartments.
One other thing of note that might put people of and this is nothing to do with Astra but there are far too many mopeds and quad bikes zipping around the village and if I were a hotel owner I would be seeking to get more restrictions on these.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms on the adult poolside are much more spacious

Fourth time in this hotel - so there must be something good that brings me back to Astra. Unfortunately, the service from the reception & the manager is NOT one of these things.

A fact: If you book your room(s) directly with the hotel, they will give you a better service than if you book through an agency (like Sunshine, which is the site I have been using - and which I recommend). They treat people differently when booking directly with them - due to the fact that they charge MUCH higher roomrates when booking through Astra's own site. Which is in itself quite strange.

So; do not expect any form of extra service.
For example, if you ask for a clean towel outside of the days that they are "programmed" to change the one towel they give you, then you're met by a receptionist or the manager with a huge "question mark" on their face. 'How can you be so stupid asking for something outside the 'program'? You've paid for one towel; so that's what you get!'

Or if the small bottles of shampoo they provide you run out, then you basically have to beg on your knees to get a new one - and they will reluctantly hand it to you with a grin; as if you should be forever grateful for this enormous gesture they're doing for you.

It's a shame that this is the attitude behind the reception. With just a little touch of service and understanding of making their customers happy, this place would score so much higher on my rating.
They are in a great location, they have started to serve a decent breakfast (included in the room rate); they even included the aircondition & safe box this year. Because I booked through sunshine.co.uk and got a package which included these services.
Be aware that if you don't have it included from the start, the hotel will charge you an appalling €7,- pr. day for having aircondition in your room. Plus extra for the key to your safe-box too.

On the positive side, the rooms in the main building have been refurbished before this summer (2017), so the studio I got was fresh, nice and even spacious - because they took out the old kitchenette and left only the fridge. The bathroom was also much nicer now than previous years; they got rid of that disgusting shower-curtain which clings to your body when you shower, and the toilet & sink were new and fresh.

Conclusion:
The best thing about the Astra Village Apartments is the location, the view from the high floor rooms, the new included breakfast, and the fact that there are two (small) clean pools on the site.
Mediocre was the towel service (1 towel which is changed only every second day) and the value for money.
The worst is unfortunately the manager's & owner's money-focus - which make them like 'programmed robots' who cannot - and will not - give you anything outside of the ordinary, and who lost the sight of giving excellent service to their guests. With a different attitude from the reception/manager, this hotel would score higher on the rating, for sure!

A small group of family run apartments with 2 pools, always spare beds, great views of the sea. Complex is clean and rooms spacious with balconies and more amazing views. Close to many restaurants, we visited a different one every evening for the 2 weeks we were there, a couple of supermarkets nearby too. There was a Greek night one of the nights we were there, a wonderful evening of home cooked food and entertainment from traditional dancers.

Short walk to the beach, albeit not work it as the beaches are small and rocky (stick to the hotel pools), walk feels much longer on the way back due to the hill! If you prefer the quieter style of holiday this village is for you, plenty to do and see without the rowdy crowds of the coast. Pleasant walk to Hersonissos village. Day trip to Santorini pick up from near the hotel, definitely worth the money.

That was the third time that I have stayed at the Astra village over ten years, and I'll be back again next year. It's spotless, friendly and ideally situated for a stress free holiday. The rooms have everything you require, although it's an extra 7 euro a night for air con and 14 euro for the key to the room safe for a week. If it requires anything then it would be an extra electrical socket in the kitchen area otherwise magic. There are dozens of fantastic restaurants either side of the hotel and a few pubs. If you require a more lively night life just walk down the hill into Hersonissos. The hotel has two pools, one with a pool bar and small children's play garden. The hotel bar/cafeteria is excellent with four of the most helpful and friendly staff that you could get anywhere. Reception is open 24 hours, again with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Ideal hotel for couples and families with small children.
