We stayed in Piskapiano in 2016 but found the extra climb a bit much after a day on the beach or a cocktail too many!! Galaxy Villas were recommended by a local boutique owner so we booked for this year. We emailed the management just before departure to request an apartment with sea or pool view if possible, and although this could not be guaranteed, we were not disappointed.
On arrival, Michalis showed us to our apartment (No 29). He helped carry our bags to our villa and showed us round, pointing out where everything was. We had a spacious one bed apartment with two terraced areas, one off the bedroom and the other off the living area, with grass in front and a view down to the sea. It was by far the biggest and nicest accommodation we have ever had in Greece. We were impressed with the amount of storage; a hairdryer was provided. The apartment was cleaned every day as were towels; bed linen changed every other day. We found the mattresses too hard so followed advice from other reviews and placed a blanket to act as a mattress topper!
The kitchen equipment was basic but sufficient as we only had light lunches here and used either the bakery across the road or the one next door to the Galaxy.
The gardens were beautifully maintained, as was the pool area. Although there were plenty of sunbeds, there didn’t seem to be enough space to accommodate them. On our first full day we struggled to find a sunbed so tried to relax on the plastic garden chairs on our terrace. One of the staff must have noticed how uncomfortable we were and promptly had two sun loungers delivered to the apartment! On the days we stayed in, we spent the hottest part of the day in the shade in our own private oasis. Very private and relaxing!
The staff were a credit to Galaxy Villas. Michalis and Dimitris on reception were very helpful, giving tips for trips out. Apostolis was brilliant at the bar from late afternoon to closing…and made great cocktails! We didn’t really use the bar in the day so didn’t get to know Sophia but she was always polite in passing.
The location was perfect, at the far end of Koutoulafari, only a short walk to the restaurants and bars. We ate somewhere different every night and never had a bad meal.
The beach was about 15 minutes downhill, which was fine going but a bit of a struggle coming back in the heat! Taxis were available at approx. 8 euros.
We highly recommend a visit to Old Hersonissos on a Monday evening when the square comes alive with traditional Greek Dancing. A taxi cost 8 euros there, we managed to walk back!
We do not usually return to a resort, let alone accommodation, but have already booked for next year…we’re just disappointed it will only be for a week this time!!
