Wonderful hosts, superb meal and lovey room. What a combination to make a successful stay. It is also halfway from our house in the Creuse to the Eurotunnel.
We especially enjoyed wandering around the local town which is full of timbered buildings and medieval churches and towers. The evening meal was beautifully served in a very tastefully decorated dining room. We had one of the menus and the food quality was superb. We can highly recommend this place

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor and overlooked the new etension which houses the swimming pool and bar/breakfast room

We stayed one night en route from the Dordogne to England. The hotel is an attractive old building in small but well tended grounds, with magnificent mature trees. The busy main road is close by, but we did not hear it in the hotel.
We were met on arrival by the owner, who was most solicitous but explained that room 4, which we had booked via the internet, was not available owing to an unspecified problem which had arisen. We were offered and accepted room 5, of an equivalent grade.
The room was comfortable and well furnished. The bathroom had recently been upgraded, but the description of a separate toilet and shower was a little misleading. Both are partitioned off from the bath by an opaque glass wall, but this does not reach to the ceiling and privacy is therefore limited. The usual Relais et Chateaux accoutrements were of course provided.
Pre-dinner drinks are served in a very attractive orangery. We asked for a negroni but were told this was not available. An excellent glass of champagne made an acceptable subsititute.
The dining room is high ceilinged and attractive with painted panels. In addition to the a la carte, three set menus were offered, with a choice of two main courses, starting at 62 Euros. We chose different main courses and we both enjoyed our dinner. My cod (catch of the day described as "return of the fish") was perfectly cooked. There is a fairly extensive wine list, focused as one would expect on French wines.
Breakfast was again served in the orangery with home made organic fruit salad and freshly squeezed fruit juice, as well as high quality viennoiserie.
A leaflet in the bedroom indicates that the town is a noted ville fleurie. Sadly we had neither the time nor the weather to explore it on this occasion.
We will be happy to return.

Eric and Odile Brial are exceptional hosts. Their care of us was impeccable. They have made extensive reparations of the property to keep its character and preserve its history. Service is extraordinary and detailed - a hairdresser was found for me in the small village. When we drove in one evening in the rain, a young bellman ran out with an open umbrella to walk me in. Such small courtesies were constant and part of Eric’s care of his and Odile’s guests.

We stayed for four nights at Le Clos last week. We had a lovely quiet suite overlooking the park garden. The owners are very "hands on" which makes Le Clos feel more like a home than an hotel. We ate in the restaurant every night of our stay and the cooking was excellent. The breakfasts were very good too and the natural homemade yoghurt was to die for. All the staff were very friendly and the service was faultless. Thank you to M and Madame Brail and everyone at Le Clos for making our stay so memorable.

We loved our stay at Le Clos and will definitely return.
We checked in late on Sunday after a long drive from La Dordogne and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome.
Our room was great and the food was off the richter scale. Eric met us as we pulled in and made us feel immediately at home. He couldn't do enough for us or our dogs.
This is no cooky cutter hotel. It has real character and so does Eric. He and his staff take a pride in what they do and it shows in the results.
A great establishment and a concrete assessment as to how things should be done.

Room Tip: Garden room is best for dogs.
