Visited the area a few weeks back and stayed here for one night.
Our room, could have been okay had the carpet been given a good clean and the boarded up window made draft proof. It would have helped with the decor had the crack in the outer wall and the inner party wall, not lent evidence that they appeared to be parting company and the removal of the old iron heating pipe, along with the blocks that held an old iron radiator, been removed.
The hotel was not very busy, so, combined with having a problem with their drains being sorted out and just one other couple for breakfast, the the expected choice of cereals etc., were not there to choose from. The "full English" was offered and in part, accepted, which was no better (probably not as good as) than that provided by Weatherspoon's, et al. Our waitress was clean and presentable, but in need of training and the toaster should be changed for one that toasts equally, both sides, not rare on one and burnt on tother.
The cleaner was also present whilst we were eating, busy doing her rounds, along with her spray cleaner / polish.
This place has the potential to be far better, but I suspect that, with the nearby race meetings providing them with clientele who don't have a lot of choice, they are not incentivised to do so.More
