This place is absolutely amazing! If you are looking for vintage Colombian atmosphere then this is the place. Great staff and customer service. The staff will make you feel right at home. The owner took it upon herself to help aid my sunburn with one of her freshly picked aloe plants. What a sweet woman. The location is ideal just 3 minutes away from the beautiful square. The complimentary breakfast is also wonderful. I greatly recommend this beautiful hotel to all who would like to enjoy their fruits of labor in Villa de Leyva.

I had been here the first time in 1989 and since then in a few occasions over the years. The tremendous charm does not wear off and the entire complex remains a wonderful place off mere hospitality.
Very engaged staff offer the same regular breakfast every morning. However their kindness and the place itself makes it worth staying there. A little improvement on the building (e.g the bathrooms) would not be harmful. Despite the afore mentioned we will always return.
Have a great stay in that wonderful city

The phrase Colombia magic realism became a reality as soon as you check in
"The pool" is a natural spring where you will feel rejuvenated. Fresh clean water run all over the hotel between gardens even inside the dining area
The bar is run by Andres & Sonia, Andre's ancestors were the owners of the house and his grandfather turned it into a hotel
He will tell you the whole story
Close enough to the main plaza, walking distance to the action yet far enough to be secluded and have a silent rest overnight while you listen the water running!

To have made it to Villa de Leyva the odds are that anyone considering this hotel likes a more adventurous vacation. This hotel fits that perfectly. The whole complex surprises with its age and character. The rooms are all unique and enhance the overall experience. The hotel does lack some creature-comforts such as reliable plumbing and air conditioning but these area minor inconveniences for such a cool place.

The hotel is very basic and is very old, with wooden doors and windows, antique looking furniture and wooden floors. We stayed in the cabanas a bit away from the main hotel building. The room was clean and the bedding appeared clean as well. The room is very very basic, and the over all decoration (bed covers, curtains, towels etc) could most certainly do with an upgrade. The shower leaked, so the floor stayed wet all the time, which is a bit grim. The rest of the hotel building is charming, in an antique way, it did feel a bit like a museum . . .

The breakfast was ok-ish. Nothing special, and I would almost say, not really up to standard either (only one cup of coffee allowed! ) Oh, and no Wifi in the rooms either (not sure that this is a BAD thing)

BUT, and this is a HUGE BUT . . . there is a natural spring pool that has a small waterfall and the sound is AMAZING. The gardens around the pool and around the hotel are lovely and lush.
I would visit again, just for that pool!

And the hotel is a short walk from the town centre, and the town really is charming and a wonderful little piece of Colombia that definitely deserves a visit!

Room tip: The cabanas are next to the water, Peaceful and quiet (the only sound was the water falling and the birds)
