The views from this villa are lovely - the terraces look over mango and papaya orchards onto banana plantations on the opposite side of the valley, and all the way down to the ocean. The climate of Madeira is very variable, but this villa enjoys the best of it, being in a sheltered location in the warm, tropical zone. We enjoyed perfect weather throughout our visit.
Manuel and Rita are the kindest, most generous and considerate of hosts, and this is apparent in the comfort, convenience and beauty of the grounds, and the villa with its spotlessly clean, comfortable interior. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and is further supplied with a good provision of basic groceries, making self-catering easy and pleasurable.
I use a wheelchair, and the spacious interior and wheelchair access in and around the house was perfect. The property is easily accessed by a well-surfaced road, and there is sufficient parking for several cars.
The quality of the furniture and fittings indoors was good - the bed, the sofa and the garden furniture were all very comfortable. The terrace was entirely sheltered, so we were able to sit in comfort at all times of the day and evening.
Waking to the peace and fresh air of the countryside in a bedroom with French doors onto the terrace is delightful and it's so lovely to sit in the shade of the terrace that there is no particular need to go out and about every day.
The scenery around this area is pretty spectacular, and a car is definitely recommended to make the most of it. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and a wonderful bakery - Miminho, with a wheelchair accessible terrace in nearby Ribiera Brava, while Funchal is approximately 15 minutes away by car. The villa and its views suited our needs perfectly, and we had an absolutely wonderful holiday here. There are many other positive reviews for this property on other websites.
I cannot recommend this property highly enough, and thank Manuel and Rita sincerely for their warmth and kindness to us during our visit.
