Rooms are nothing fancy compared to other Ibis styles (Phuket) I previously stayed. It is a basic room.
When we booked, we were a party of 5adults, however 1 person pulled out. Only 4adults, but we were charged with 5 adults tourist tax & rooms. Ibis did not reflect at the actual number of 4adults stayed.
The positive side it had:
1. swimming pool,
2. kids playroom
3. pool table,
4. crossiants, coffee & tea facilities next to entranceMore

This hotel is a solid basic choice with some good points worth noting:
(1) right off the highway (no noise though!) So easy to get to / leave from and ample free parking
(2) decent buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon, range of baked goods, fruits, cereals, yogurt, etc. Standouts: fresh orange juice machine (the kind where you put some oranges in and watch it do its magic) automatic coffee maker but they use decent coffee
(3) good value (Expedia rate) for a roomy room with decent bedding, bathroom, decent breakfast, and BBC, CNN, a movie or two on TV in English if you need to veg. & game room
(4) very nice staff
The less stellar
(5) While only a three minute drive straight from the hotel into the heart of Cognac there is only a Buffalo Grill and a Burger King in close walking distance - the hotel does have a complete bar and says it can do light meals...
(6) the big pool was too cold for our taste but nice for the hardy!
If you love Cognac and want to explore the region, the old town is nice as is the river front

Very friendly personnel at the reception. It is siuated near to a Buffalo Grill so you do not have to take your car if you need an evening meal. Breakfast is as usual very complete with srambled eggs and bacon. The room is correct.

This was a short overnight stop enroute to St Malo and our return ferry to Jersey.
It was also an opportunity to enjoy in the town of Cognac, a Martell Cognac, with dinner and toast Jerseyman Jean Martell, who founded this famous old Cognac House.
The hotel is situated a little out of town, but was easy to find. Entry to the car park was a little more tricky and is gained by first driving along a service road that runs parallel to the main road. We arrived on a Sunday and found that there were a good number of Yellow Vest protesters (and police) at a roundabout that is only a 100 meters from the hotel. Thankfully there were no hold ups or delays and everyone was well behaved.
Our room was excellent. Clean and comfortable with good Wifi and plenty of space. The addition of an in room sofa was a bonus for this type of hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good.
We did not make use of the pool but others did. An early evening, post drive swim, could easily be a reward to well behaved children, on a long drive home.
Next time we may well stop over two nights and use it as an opportunity to explore the area a little more.

What made this hotel exceptional was the staff, the women on reception and working in the bar on Sunday was incredibility helpful and couldn't do more for us. She insisted in speaking to me in English to aid communication and was warm and friendly, despite being quite busy being the only person working the evening . The rest of the staff (at breakfast and at check out ) were professional and friendly. The facilities at the hotel were good, and the breakfast was plentiful and fresh. I would love to stay at this hotel again.

Large rooms with excellent facilities. Good breakfast at fair price. External pool. A bit out from the centre of Cognac but very convenient to find. Plenty of parking and helpful staff.
Close to large shops and a Buffalo Grill but for greater choice a drive to the centre is needed.
