Though we've lived in the region for nearly 20 years, we do not often venture into Empuriabrava. But as this was out of season, and we were in the area, we decided to eat there, and chanced upon the Casa Gallego. We were not disappointed. Let's face it , top quality fish is not cheap anywhere these days, and CG is therefore not a cut price eating experience, but the ingredients, cooking, wine and service are all top notch. To be fair, the sky's the limit , budget wise, and it would not be difficult to run up a bill of over 100€ a head here, but we were perfectly suited by a big salad and some super fried chipirones to start and wonderfully fresh grilled hake and monkfish as a main. Too full for dessert ! Bottle of Ribeiro housewine , a couple of beers and coffee came to just under 100€ for the two of us. Right up there with the best seafood restaurants in the Costa Brava in our opinion.
