Stunning views, lovely terrace/bar/restaurant overlooking the gorge!

Clean room with great view. Fab place to unwind after a long day trekking!

Only negative was the food, which was pretty average.

I assume things here changed quite a bit compared to the previous reviews below. We stayed here the first night of our trek through the tiger leaping gorge and loved it. The views from the terrace are overwhelming and alone are reason enough to stay here. No other guesthouse offers these kind of views. The private rooms with bathroom are great: decent bathrooms, nice beds, clean. And it is cheap to stay here. We stayed in three guesthouses in the gorge, and this one is by far the best.

Halfway Guesthouse is conveniently located exactly 6 to 8 hours of trekking from Qiaoto and take complete advantage of that. The staff is rude and unhelpful, they do not provide any advice nor information.

The views don't really matter as you can get the same in any other guesthouse in Tiger Leaping Gorge.

The shared bathrooms are located outside and therefore in colder months you are forced to take a private twin room with ensuite bathroom which is severly overpriced compared to other guesthouses in the area.

There is no heating in the rooms, nor electric blankets and the windows have no glass in some parts so the wind gets through your room the wohle night causing noise and your bones to freeze.

There is food available for breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately it always arrives cold. The eating area is not isolated either therefore you get very very cold in the morning and evenings.

If you trek slowly, please stay in the guesthouse before (Tea-horse Guesthouse.- beautiful) which is approximately 1.5 hours trek before.

If you walk faster - get to Tina's Guesthouse which is approximately 1.5hr of treeking after.

Just don't stay in Halfway as it will spoil your trip.

It is so wonderful to just sit at the terrace and chill out. You are so close to the mountains, you feel you can almost touch them! The place has a rustic charm and the owner is very friendly. What surprised me is the little luxury of having a heated mattress pad. After a day walk, it was nice to crawl into a warm bed to soothe the tired muscles :)
