Checked in for 1 night, the hotel is a concrete tower block with a central atrium, there is a small swimming pool on the atrium second floor and noise carries right through the rooms.
The room I had was on the 8th floor, avoid this floor as you are right under all the service machinery and central AC units.... and yep more noise.
The room itself was fairly clean,a good size with a comfy bed and an average bathroom.
A modern TV was in the room, with some international channels available, this is quite rare in hotels around this region so I was pleasantly surprised.
Breakfast choice was good but the quality very poor (according to my Malay companions) I had the usual western choice of mixed omelette. Disappointed with the lukewarm sludge that was served as coffee though.
Free wifi is available but don't rely on remaining connected for long.

Hotel Taiping Perdana, owned by Ko-op Guru Daerah Larut, Matang dan Selama is a pleasant hotel situated not that far out from the heart of Taiping.

Stayed for one night recently for business purposes. Arrived at the hotel in the evening and check in was smooth. The front desk staff was very attentive. My room was on the 3rd floor and clean, roomy and nice for a standard queen. The room had basic amenities, and this was the first time I lodged in a hotel where there was an iron and ironing board ready in the room. Very convenient! The bathroom was clean too. I didn't have to conduct my standard hotel test (additional pillow request) as there were already 4 pillows on the bed. The only thing I would maybe ask management to look into would be the air-conditioning unit for the room, as it was quite noisy.

Breakfast the next day was also good. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family as at the promotion rate given (RM145/night) it was worth every sen. Keep up the prime work, Hotel Taiping Perdana!

Location was a bit far off the town centre. Took us 15 minutes to walk to Taiping Mall.
If you are not very mobile or not used to walking long distances in sweltering heat, not so good.
Hotel looks well maintained from outside. Room was decently-sized. But housekeeping can be improved. Bed sheet had slight stains. Dirt deposited by friend's shoes after walk around Lake Gardens still on floor the next evening, even tho we saw the chambermaid cleaning our room when we came back from a city tour.
Breakfast was ok but staff was slow to refill emptied juice dispenser as well as the more popular food and the fruit stand.
The TV had very very limited channels. Probably only 6 out of which 4 were local stations. No news channels at all! Wifi was OK, quite strong at they have two routers on our floor. Recep staff was OK, quite helpful.

Room Tip: All rooms (as far as we can determiine) have windows altho the views are of the roofs of residences and other buildings.

Booked into a family unit as the hotel is fully booked for other types of room. It can accommodate up to 5 pax maximum. It is a coop hotel run by the Malay teachers society. The lobby is clean and impressive. It is stocked with newspapers and some tourist information on Taiping Staff are friendly and helpful. Room is big and decently clean. Perhaps the carpet needs to be changed. Toilet is clean but a little small with shower, wc, and wash basin all in the same confinement of the toilet. Thus when a shower is taken, the floor will be wet. Breakfast is ok with decent spread. The swimming pool is indoor and rather small but good enough for a dip at the end of the day. Wifi in the room is available but at times unstable.Overall, fairly comfortable stay for us.
