We travelled via mini van to the local lake in Saariselka. We opted for the 2.5hr excursion as we have 2 young children. Our guide Janne was incredible & very professional. He was very informative & answered every curious question we had. We didn’t catch anything but the experience was worth every penny. After the attempted fishing we warmed up in a traditional Kota (Finnish hut) with delicious warm berry juice & sausages. Thermal clothing is essential & provided / included in the package.

Our family of five booked the tipi northern lights experience. It turned out we were the only ones booked which is a big advantage of a smaller company like this. Our guide was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond including searching for reindeers for us when the children said they were sad not to have seen any. We were very lucky to see an unusually good display of the Northern Lights and he took great photos which he then sent to us. We stayed out longer than we paid for and I cannot fault anything about the experience. Highly recommended.

Before we started with the trip we went to the Top Safari office were we got our thermal clothing which was really needed as it felt like -26 outside. Fully geared up we went with the minibus to the top of Kaunispää. The guide Danil gave some tips regarding the camera settings which were very useful.

Even though the KP index was around 2, there was a really nice view of the Aurora.
It became more crowded on top of Kaunispää so we went to some secret locations. The view was magnificent and nobody else was there.

Danil als made some nice pictures despite the low KP index and the far Aurora.
After a few hours we arrived back at the Top Safari office.

We received the pictures which were made by Danil the next day. It was very informative and fun.

Jan was a very good tourguide on our snowmobile safari. He enlarge the tour (free upgrade) about 50% and spend time on a nice fireplace with berry juice and sweets. He was looking for good speed in our group and we had a lot of fun. Well done!

We rented two pairs of cross country skis. Neither of the staff members knew basically anything about skis or skiing. First we got too short skis and ski poles. We wondered about them and got better suited pairs. Then we wondered if the skis or bindings should be adjusted to our height/weight. They said the skis are ready to go but in reality we had to adjust them ourselves for better performance. All in all without our own expertise we would have got nowhere with the provided "service". The equipment itself were good and in good shape as such.
