Muotka Aurora Cabin offered a perfect romantic experience for a couple looking for a boost of Arctic fresh air. The smoke sauna after a Snow motorbike safari combines the adrenaline rush in both directions.
The service at the hotel reception from a very professional teams allows to accommodate any wish from visitors.

Greatly appreciated the beauty, comfort and cozy atmosphere. All four Wilderness hotels are to be recommended, each a little different from the other. One thing they all have in common is dedicated, passionate staff. Certainly hope to visit again. Would work very well also for a family holiday.
No second guessing, this is the one you want! Pure perfection. Located in the middle of the forest, with plenty of things to do nearby. Very pleasant service and wonderful little log cabin. We will definitelly return!
A group of 4 couples stayed here. Bucket list item. We stayed in Rovaniemi for 3 nights before. Our thinking was Muotka was expensive so didn’t want to spend the whole week there. We wished we would have just stayed the whole week here tho. In Rovaniemi, we probably spent the same paying for meals and activities that were all included at Muotka.
We all stayed in Aurora cabins. They are completely worth it. They are magical. Very spacious. The windows have heaters so if snow gets on window, it will melt. We had varying degrees of privacy. Our cabin had a large amount of snow around window so that added to privacy. The bathroom is a combo room, shower and toilet in same space. I learned a take a long shower. There is only so much hot water per cabin. I ran out every day. My friends did not. There is a sauna in the bathroom. The bathroom floor is heated. We kept asking at desk where the switch for that was and never did find it.
The food was very good. All meals are buffet. There was a salad option every day and lunch and dinner which was great. Our biggest complaint was the bread was put out in whole loaves. So people would grab it with their bare hands to cut it. So we choose not to eat bread.
The activities were great. We had beautiful days with clear skies. But every night the clouds rolled in so we saw the northern lights twice but behind clouds. We have seen them before in Iceland with no clouds so it didn’t compare. But that’s Mother Nature. We snowshoed one night. We rode snowmobiles to a reindeer farm one day. That was the best. We were on the snowmobiles for hours.
They provide a snowmobile suit and boots to use for free for your entire stay.
We used the luggage sleds and did some downhill sledding one afternoon. We went husky sledding once. We preferred the company we did it with in Rovaniemi. This company chained each dog to a dog house.
The staff was great. All very friendly.
This is the perfect place to go if you like being close to the nature while staying in a luxurious place with many comforts. There are many options for stays, and as it was a big event for my husband and I, we stayed in one of the aurora bubbles. Sleeping under the stars was amazing and when we had the luck to see the northern lights when we got out of the sauna at 10pm, it really became the perfect evening. There were many options for outings and we chose the husky safari which was a lot of fun. They provide warm clothes when you book a tour for the time you stay which did in fact come in handy as we spent a few hours from 10pm - midnight watching the northern lights at -20C. To see them, you need clear skies, solar activity and a dark place away from light pollution. For that Muotka was perfect. Many of the predictors weren't helpful but if you see activity coming on aurora oval maps, it gives you a good idea (spaceweather has this).
There were many places to go snow shoeing and you can rent them for the day if you are interested. The food at the resort is very local. The breakfast is amazing with a great spread of choices, but I would advise to not arrive too late. In the evening, it is rather simple with two choices but the service is friendly and the wood resort is charming. When arriving when it is dark, it is quite tricky finding some of the aurora bubbles amongst the alleys - our room was 306 but we could only see a 6 on it so we were quite confused. A tip for the resort is to ask guests to turn off their lights when they leave their rooms as it leads to light pollution. Other than that, the area is quiet and away from towns and busy streets, the staff are friendly, the beds very comfortable, and the rooms perfectly clean. We have recently just came back from this hotel, we were both very excited for this trip and we were not disappointed! We arrived late on the night and due to the season we were not able to see any staff that worked behind the reception, instead we were welcomed by bar staff (in my opinion, this was the only staff member that was not very helpful) we eventually found our room (superior sauna room) which really did amaze us, it was everything and more, the bed was sooo comfy and the private sauna in our room was just what was needed after a cold day. We did, cross country skiing, aurora snowmobile and husky safari, all activities again were perfect and even better than expected, all ran by friendly staff that were chatty and helpful, the breakfast buffet was also just what you needed to fill up for the day (really good for veggies as well) the evening meal was also very good but a bit expensive, one night the hotel were kind enough to sort us a lift into the nearby town, definitely worth a little explore. But altogether could not fault the 3 days we were there, would definitely go back again for the activities alone, but yeh, absolutely amazing hotel, strongly recommend!
