I stayed for 3N in December, one week before Xmas. There weren’t too many people staying in Kiilopaa and I enjoyed the quietness. The hotel rooms were warm and comfortable with sufficient amenities in the room. The room rates were definitely reasonable. Kiilopaa Fell is a great place for skiing. But as I don’t ski, I enjoyed walking around the area. The Fell was so beautiful with thick powdery snow. It was so serene and surreal. I also saw reindeers twice coming to the carpark, should be regular visitors!
The ice sculptures were nice and complemented the beautiful surroundings. I didn’t take part in the guided activities as I wanted to enjoy the area myself. I regretted not renting snowshoes as most of the tracks require snowshoes and not normal winter shoes to walk on.
For the smoke Sauna, I managed to go only once.It was nice but I did not dare to fully immerse myself in the cold water. A lot of the visitors did and I admire their courage!
The food in Kiilopaa Fell Centre was good. Though considered simple fare but I liked the salmon, meat balls etc. The price of the lunch and dinner were very reasonable at 10Euro and 23Euro respectively. Lunch buffet was much simpler but sufficient for me.
In all, I enjoyed a restful winter break in Kiilopaa.More
