We have recently returned from a holiday to Ibiza staying at the Granada Apartments in Portinatx for 7 nights.
We are extremely dissatisfied with this holiday which was ruined by the appalling accommodation. Like most people going to the Mediterranean area we live mainly outside on a patio or veranda. We were attracted to the Granada Apartments due to the photograph on the Thomas Cook website showing the apartments grouped around the pool with good patios/balconies.
This was reinforced with the words: “On site these well appointed apartments are built around a beautiful swimming pool, and traditional Spanish-style courtyard, where a sparkling oasis lies invitingly, surrounded by sun beds and palms, allowing for a secluded feel to this sun drenched spot”
Sounds perfect doesn’t it? Well it is if you are allocated an apartment in Block A as shown in the brochures.
Even Block B, although it does not have a pool view is very nice.
However if you are allocated Block C then you get a patio as shown in the photographs.
Block C is under the swimming pool and has very poor outside areas.
C1, which we were given, is the worst of the lot. Minor irritations like half the lights not working and having to hold the kettle plug in whilst alarming sparks were emitted were bad enough but the patio area must be seen to be believed. It consisted of a 2 metre deep pit, measuring 1.5 metres by 2 metres, right next to the road. This picture is as it is seen by anyone on the road.
The sun umbrella seems somewhat superfluous as the pit was north facing and never had any sun.
This facility fell far short of our expectations based on the information provided by Thomas Cook. We complained immediately to the owner who mentioned that the previous occupants of C1 had also complained. The owner promised to try to move us on the next changeover day but never did.
We do wonder if anyone from Thomas Cook ever inspected this property. We were glad to leave.
