Charming family owned the place, feels Hosting is in their souls. All done with a smile and courtesy, Relais Del Lago is simply beautiful and the rooms are spacious and well equipped and very clean, wonderful breakfast. Short, highly recommended!!! Do not miss a meal in their restaurant!!!!!!
Recommended to call and ask for directions.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful

A beatiful location overlooking Capannori and the surrounding mountains. Good for visit at any time of the year. Lucca is about 15 km. So you will be needing a car, even for traveling to nearest tavernas, vineyards and olive farms. Beware of cars if decide to walk in the evening, roads are not lighted.
As for the B&B itself - the most important thing is home, family atmosphere. The seniors in the house make it a real Toscanian home. They care of you and of their grandchildren at the same time. So immediately you are a part of the family.
Our room was nice and clean with a fantastic view. The breakfast was good. Yet the most important part of the breakfast was new olive oil (olio fresco). (In November when we were there the local farmers harvest the olives) The senior owner offered it to us right at the first breakfast we had. Since then fresh bread and seasoned new oil was nearly all we had for breakfast. The taste of this olio fresco is great, fresh and green. If green can be a taste.

There is a restaurant on site - Serendepico. We had a dinner there once. The food was definitely good but I would say overpriced comparing to some good places in Lucca (a dinner for 3 with a bottle of wine was Euro 120). Another thing is that the cuisine in this restaurant is more appropriate for cosmopolitan New York than for a family place in the heart of Toscana. One can hardly expect fusion taste in a place like that. Still I would like to say that the food was good, just not what we expected. What we expected was a plate of farro or spaghetti carbonara with rich garlic taste and a lot of Parmiggiano.

For good oil go to Tenuta Gaetano Spadaro, Gaetno i sfriendly guy, speaks goods English
For good wine go to Il Grifo, this estate has red, white and santo wines
For good and quick plate of spaghetti carbonara got to taverna 4 Mura
All these place are just 2-3 mins of driving

A truly family run B&B that makes you feel right at home! What an awesome location!! Beautiful property and very relaxing atmosphere. Can't say enough about the owners that run this place. They are great and really care about their guests. Food at the restaurant was excellent! Close to Lucca, a must see!! Would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had the pleasure of staying in the deluxe spa suite, that had our own private jacuzzi & sauna, and the pool was steps away from our front door. This room is situated apart from the main house, which ensured a quiet, relaxing and restful night's sleep. We took a private tour on the day we checked out from Florence with Verbena Blu and enjoyed a day tour to Monterosso off Cinque Terre coastline, after dropping off our luggage at Relais. We knew that we would be returning late in the evening after enjoying the sunset and dinner in Viareggio. (this was a great way to enjoy exploring the coastline, allowing us to customize our day. Instead of losing a day of travel, moving from one area/hotel to another). Allesandro & Elise were both so kind and accomodating, it's a true family run business. From the grandmother assisting in the fabulous breakfast spread offered every morning in the living room, (private suite offers in-room breakfast) the grandfather helping with maintenence, Allessandro's wonderful cooking crew and their creations out of Serendipico (reservations in advance are a must), to Elise who graciously shares her time servicing guests and their two little boys. Relais is a short 10 minute drive to the beautful historical city of Lucca, located within the walls that are still standing all around it. We did rent a car for two days, so that we could explore the areas, and return to Florence (less than an hour drive) to take a train to Rome. I would highly recommend staying at Relais if you are looking for a wonderful retreat in Caponnori, Tuscany.
