Spent four nights here for a family wedding at a nearby Catalonian village. Stayed one night in Room 4 (very small room and bathroom, but lovely veranda and view) and three nights in Room 20, which is on the roof level. Room 20 is a beautiful large room with a huge bathroom and private veranda with a hot (warm...) tub and 360 views of the village to the beach. We had dinner in the hotel one evening, which was delicious. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and pleasant - they called Hertz for us when we left sunglasses in the car, provided us with local sightseeing information, etc. We thought the hotel breakfast was delicious, but never ordered a hot breakfast so did not experience the wait time that was mentioned in other reviews. As far as local sights go, Altafulla is a lovely village in itself, and it is a nice jumping off point to Tarragona (don’t miss the aqueduct!) and Reus. The Gaudi Interactive Museum in Reus, which is Gaudi’s birth city, is well-worth the short drive.

Bedroom is ok, nothing special except for the very small windows. But doesn t match the historic Style of the buildings, looks more like an ibis.
Breakfast can be ok if you have 1:30 to take it. Being here for professional reasons it was quite annoying, open at 7:30 but start really at 8, no self service, 20 min to get food ( and we were alone) even more to get a coffee, surrounded by a bunch of wasps that happily every morning eat the half of the food (quite impressive by the way).
Conclusion: i really don t recommand it, especially if you want stress less morning... oh I finally get my coffee :)

Dear Guest;

We feel sorry to read your comments during your stay in our Hotel.

We do not understand about the timings that you comment.
Normally the breakfast starts at 07,30h, you can get a coffee without problem.
During the summer the breakfast place is in Pati dels Tarongers, we think that is better for our clients, enjoy in the morning in a outdoor place with Spanish guitar live music.
Indeed the breakfast service have been high valorated by our guests in the hotel.

We will take note your comments.

Best regards,

Gran Claustre Team

The communication with the hotel was excellent and despite my several emails prior to arrival the booking team were always happy to help. Our room was in the older part of the hotel, but I think the new side also looked as though it would be very nice although i didn't see the rooms.
The breakfast was served outside which was ideal and a guitarist playing wonderful music as you enjoyed the leisurely meal. The food served was plentiful, although i had a rather restricted diet which severely limited what I could have. I failed to tell the hotel about this but feel sure they would have provided something for me had I asked.
As with other reviews, on the Saturday evening there was some very loud music playing, but we were invited to attend with free CAVA, and it was a Saturday evening and so i felt could be forgiven. We declined through exhaustion from travelling and slept through most of it. The other evenings would often have very light ambient music which was very pleasant.
The hotel is in a medieval village so really an adorable location. The church bells chimed everyday, and I loved being woken by them :-)
We didnt eat in the hotel restaurant as we felt it seemed like any modern restaurant you could find anywhere and we like character so passed the door and continued for about 5O yards where we found a delightful restaurant with lovely food. Don't have the name to hand but it is similar to the more expensive one at the hotel. The owner speaks many languages and the food was the best we had on our trip to Spain :-)
After Altafulla, we moved to Valencia and had a huge culture shock. We missed the hotel very much and wished we had stayed longer. Would highly recommend this hotel and were so happy that we chose this location over Tarragona which was our initial plan.

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior room No 13 over looking the pool with a terrace and were happy

Stylish hotel in old part of town, splashed out on the junior suite with private roof terrace and jacuzzi - note that the jacuzzi shown on the hotel website with the glass surround is not the one attached to the suite but another available for other guests to rent. The private terrace does not have much in the way of a view as it is surrounded by a fence but it's still pleasant to sit out there and soak up the afternoon sun. The room itself is not the biggest - the extra seating area is fundamentally the bathroom and thus the extra square metres are somewhat wasted. Shower has very poor pressure and no hot water morning or evening. Luckily the weather was warm! Bed was comfortable but there is a lot of noise at night from the bar next door which is also owned by the hotel. WiFi free but very weak.

If you are a fan of the Logis organisation ( as we are) probably all you need to know is that Gran Claustre is a Logis d'Exception, one of about 25 in Europe. Otherwise you should know that this a special place, a boutique hotel in a very pretty village. We had a room in the older building with a balcony and view towards Tarragona. Service is exceptional. A request for an additional pillow for my wife was delivered in 5 minutes. Reception was happy to book restaurants for us as well. Our room was ideal, high quality with a slate walled shower. There have been some negative comments about breakfasts but in our view these are misplaced. As the hotel has an excellent restaurant, each guest has individual fresh fruits, bread, meats etc.rather than a vast table laid out. More than happy to go back

Room Tip: Room 10 has the biggest balcony
