We went to Zafferana the weekend of the Sagra di Fungi (mushroom festival). I was looking forward to eating porcini mushrooms and was told that this was a very good restaurant. We ordered the traditional fried pizza calzone with porcini mushrooms and Veal steak with porcini mushrooms. How disappointed were we to be served frozen catering style porcini mushrooms. They were cubed and slimey in texture. Come on! This was porcini season and there was no excuse for the chef not to purchase fresh porcini mushrooms like the other restaurants. The only nice thing to say is that the waiting staff were really professional and nice.
