Oh my,

This is the first time we ask to be downgraded in a hotel. We booked a sea view bungalow. The bungalow is fit honeymooners. So tiny, that you cannot even imagine it. The only place to sit is the sun loungers outside the bungalow, otherwise you stay in the bed.

We ended up opting for a spacious room in the building. No compensations were offered none asked either.

We did not complain about so many things that went wrong with the room that look dated with A/C like in most European countries does not go below 20°c.

On the plus side, the beach and setting are fantastic. Mind you, the waves are rough and you feel the strong undercurrents, sometimes.

We have no complaints about the house keeping.

The restaurant was chaotic during dinner time. We booked half board because we had rent a car (Sixt) and explored this beautiful island and had tasty creole lunch in tiny, cute restaurants along the way (all close roughly around 3pm). Avoid restaurants at Deshaies because they are very costly (thank you BBC).

Served mostly by youngsters (buffet that cost 30 € per head), who do their best (finished plates were ridden off promptly) but badly managed. Almost our entire stay, nobody cared to propose wine list. They give you the looks ("when are you getting out") when you enter for dinner. So the best place is the pizzeria/panini near the beach if you want to have your booze with your dinner.

They do not offer ironing board (never mind, nobody dresses up). The food was ok. Hey, it is a three star hotel.

Upon check-out the blonde receptionist was more keen on cutting off our wristbands.

Speaks loud about this joint.

We are a family of three and stayed on the third floor in the main hotel building. We had an amazing view over looking the Caribbean Sea. The room had a used look about it but it was clean. We had the all inclusive package. The food was excellent, breakfast and dinner were buffet with a great selection, all you can eat. The grilled tuna for one of the dinners was the best I have ever had. Lunch was a set menu which had less selection but the portions were very large. All employees were welcoming and kind. The beach bar opened at 10 AM and had a great selection of drinks, The lunch menu was available at the beach bar as well. A few employees who I would like to thank for their kindness were Joris and Metej at the beach bar and Anita, Emmy and Josefine at the restaurant. We enjoyed relaxing on the beach and swimming in the Caribbean sea. The pool was nice as well although tended to be busy at times due to its size. We rented a car and adventured down the west coast of Bass Terre. We stopped at few places, had lunch, and simply enjoyed the whole experience of going at our own pace and stopping where we wanted too.

We had stayed close by in Grande Bas Vent just behind the Fort Royal and returned to the area later in our trip to stay here. We stayed in the main hotel on the second floor overlooking the northern « wild » beach. Beautiful views from the room over the ocean and beach. The waves crash on the shoreline can be loud but once the patio door is closed is reasonably quiet.
The buffet breakfast is great and is included in the price. Restaurant right on the beach front! The beach is really nice and usually calmer than many other beaches. We like the flexibility of adding lunch or dinner or all inclusive. You can also just add the price of your meals to your room if you decide to partake. The beach bar also offers pizza and snacks if you prefer.
There are also bungalows available at different prices, some reviews talk about these. There is also a forest path to the adjacent beach « La Perle » which is nice and offers restaurants (about 8 minute walk). A little further (15 min walk) is Grande Anse, also a great beach with restaurants and a beach bar and spa where you can rent a comfy lounger and have tapas and drinks all day.
We loved it here, some reviews weren’t favourable but...., we will return. BTW, we arrived very early and left our bags in storage until 3 pm and were able to get our wrist band to use the facilites all day! Nice of them!

The location of this resort is wonderful, but service is so disappointing.
We had booked and paid for 6 nights but due to circumstances on our trip could only stay for four. The reception staff were quick to inform us we would not be receiving any refund despite us not expecting or asking for one as it wasn't the fault of the hotel. We did however ask if we could have lunch on our day of departure,(xmas day), as we had paid for two nights accommodation including breakfasts and dinners, but this was flatly refused.
Our bungalow was in need of repair but the setting as mentioned was wonderful. The food was quite ordinary and the buffet stretched and spread out, e.g. a bowl of grated carrot is not a salad...!
On our departure we were shocked to be presented with an additional bill of €74 for dinner on xmas eve. No prior warning was given of this charge and we refused to pay which caused a commotion. The receptionist insisted we pay and we eventually asked for the manager who reluctantly appeared and also insisted we pay up. Again we refused only to be told it was mandatory. The manager eventually confessed that notice of additional charges had only been decided at the last moment and they had informed booking.com who had not informed us. We had booked the hotel 6 months previous without any prior notice. To cut a longer story short we never paid up and were told a director would be in touch but as yet no one has contacted us.
Anyone staying here will enjoy the location, but the place is dilapidated and staff have very little interest in guest comfort. The bungalows for example have no insulation and gaps in door window frames means aircon is constantly required which is sadly below expected standards in an age when caring for the environment is paramount.
Maybe one day a leisure company will buy the place and appreciate what it can offer.

Room tip: Choose another resort.....!

We spent Xmas and New Year at the resort. Although very busy, the staff were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. They are a credit to the resort! The resort was kept spotlessly tidy. Great food selection. Nice pool with plenty of space and sun loungers. Extra mention of thanks to Charlie (reception), Hedde & William (restaurant) and all the bar staff for making our holiday special! Can also recommend Tropicalsub for diving which we booked through the resort.
