If you like to see turtle lays eggs, you should go to Cherating Turtle Sanctuary during June to August. The sanctuary is just in front of Club Med Cherating main entrance. The sea breeze at night was nice and the rangers were friendly.

We went there about 10pm. From the notice board, it showed June and July are the peak season. About 68 turtles came to the shore in June and July respectively. The ranger showed us informational DVD about the turtles first, followed by showing us the live small turtles. He later guided us to the beach to release them. The visitors will be given chance to hold the small turtle before he asked us to release the little one to the sea at the same time.

About 11pm the ranger brought us quietly to the beach where they found the Green turtle.The turtle is about 1 meter long and she laid about 100 eggs. According to the ranger, this turtle came to the same shore 2 years back. The turtle spent about one hour to lay eggs and another one hour to cover the sand hole before return to the sea.

For those who are interested to pay a visit, please take note that torch light and flashlight are strongly prohibited as the turtle is very sensitive to light. If she get scared, she might not comes back to the same shore to lay egg again.
