This is a good, smallish museum which explains the history of Macau, it's people and cultures. The street of Macau houses was particularly interesting.

Very well put together museum. Next to the Fort. Nice big exhibits. You learn a lot about Macao history and culture after the visit. We were there on a Tuesday and it was free.

Definitely worth a visit!

While out walking my visiting family around the city it began to rain and we ducked into this museum just hoping to wait it out and not expecting much. Boy were we wrong! This is actually a very cool and informative museum that gives a lot of information about the history of Macau. I really enjoyed the large scale replica pieces that make you feel like you're immersed in history. If you are new to Macau, visiting, or just curious - this is a really neat place to learn a lot of the interesting history surrounding this unique place!

This museum was worth the visiting, especially looking at the dioramas depicting early history, and life in a Chinese and then Portuguese ruled Orient. The artefacts, and displays required more time than we had, unfortunately it was only a day visit.

The only reason for 4/5 is the absence of good explanations in English. Speaking several languages, I do not want sound "ignorant", but the reality is that English is de facto our planet main language. Exposition is great and the fortress on the museum top is great, especially some engineering decision, If you really want to enjoy this place, please do yourself a favor - do not include your vistit in any tour program, because 30-45 mins allocated for the museum are simply not enough to enjoy many exclusive pieces displayed there. Besides, I would allow at least 30 mins to enjoy an excellent city view from the fortress level. IMHO, it is the best thing to see in Macau (well, unless you like gambling or extreme sports).
