We stayed in this hotel from 16-27 September this year and it was superb. Lovely comfy king size bed, fabulous modern designed bathroom with the best shower ever! Even the air conditioning is quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the Manager and his family were always around, making sure that everything ran well. The breakfasts and dinners are a buffet, but it was all nice food. There are loads of sunbeds around the superb pool, with pool towels provided. So we agreed that this was the best hotel we had ever stayed in (and we travel a lot).

We stayed at the Tesoro Blu for 2 weeks from 13th -27th September and had one of the best holidays ever. From the minute you arrive you are greeted by the most efficient and happy staff who endeavour to make your stay a memorable one. Everyone is very "hands on" even the manager and his family and the waitresses always have a smile and all seem to be very genuine and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The rooms are a short walk away from the main building and we were lucky enough to stay in room 223 which even had a tiny glimpse of the sea. The king size beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept on and the showers were large, modern and very refreshing with all the added jets.
The food was excellent and I can't understand why anyone could complain at all the choice and top quality food which was beautifully presented and replemished frequently throughout both breakfast and evening meal. A nice touch was the chef (Dennis), always on hand to advise and explain the different dishes available. The homemade soups were particularly good and in the 2 weeks we only had 2 repeats of flavours.
The resident musician, Ollie was very talented in both his singing and trumpet playing and catered for all ages and tastes of music. Jamie, the entertainments co-ordinator was a lovely guy and always had time to chat to all the guests no matter how busy he was. Both Ollie and Jamie did an excellent job in keeping us entertained and smiling when we had terrential rain and thunder storms for the first two days of our stay.
We met some lovely people during our stay and will definately return.

Spent 11 nights at this hotel in September and agree with all the positive reviews. Yes the rooms, air con, showers and beds (and pillows) are the best but what stays with me is the impression that the management and staff made. The chambermaids do an amazing job day in day out with a smile on their faces. Speaking of smiles, all the waitresses at breakfast, especially Yonda, were polite and courteous and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs. It was obvious that this was a family run establishment especially by the presence of Peter the owner at breakfast and again at dinner each day. The cheerful chef was also present each evening and it was obvious he was very proud of his kitchen and staff and was happy to discuss what was on the menu. The food was always hot and fresh and we had no problem eating something different every evening. Will and Miros worked extremely hard and were the centre of attraction in the bar area. Ollie the resident singer was a great entertainer and his repertoire was amazing anything from swing to pop was a pleasure to listen to and he seemed a very nice guy. Last but not least the lovely Jamie, the events coordinator, a great guy who made everyone feel special by always having the time to stop and chat no matter how busy he was and his dancing is legendary... Again, please ignore the moaners and treat yourself to a visit to Tesoro Blu and hopefully you will have the pleasure of meeting the lovely people we encountered.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the hotel and facing the mountains seem the most private and peaceful.

Very good and almost excellent, I have been to a number of Greek islands and to be honest I do not think that Kefalonia is the prettiest but I do have to say that the Tesoro Blu was well above most of the other hotels that we have used in Greece.. The hotel is apparently awaiting an official rating but a good 4 stars would seem about right. On the down side, the food becomes a bit boring and you will need to eat outside to break up the monotony, also if you are looking for "Greek culture, or food" forget it, the hotel and Skala looks designed for a British audience. On the up side, the rooms are large and airy and the massive beds are a match for any that I have slept in around the world, both on holiday and business. The staff are exceptional, friendly and helpful, and extremely attentive without being pushy, the hotel was also well maintained and the cleanliness was great, this extended to the kitchen which was on plain view. It should be noted that there is a lower age limit of 16 which tends to define the holiday experience, althoughthe age range was reasonably wide, not just the silver surfers.

Room Tip: Sadly there is not much choice, I tried to arrange a room by telephone from the UK but I was told that it depended on what was there when we arrived. As it happened we got what I asked for so perhaps they did listen. The hotel is long and thin away from the sea and there are no sea views, so you either get a view up the ravine or into the central garden.

We stayed at the Tesoro Blu from 11th to 25th September 2012. My first impression on arriving at the hotel in Skala was that I had possibly made a mistake in choosing this place, as it is a little removed from the main resort. I was wrong!
From the moment we were met on leaving the coach, to the moment we boarded the coach to come home, it just got better and better. The receptionist on booking in was very helpful and informative and we were soon on the back of a golf buggy being taken to our room. As it was, we were in the furthest room from the front of the Hotel. The Hotel is built between two hills and goes back quite a way. Don’t be put off by this, as it makes a nice stroll when going down for your meals. The 7’ bed is amazingly comfortable and we did not hear one guest complain that they did not get a good night’s sleep on the Tempura style mattress. The safe is free and there are good tea/coffee making facilities, although after the first day you will have to supply your own tea and coffee.
The breakfast we found to be more than adequate and if you want a fried egg just ask the waiter and they are cooked fresh for you, and do not come back running in grease as they often are in other hotels. The main evening meal we also found to be very enjoyable and the head chef takes great pride in explaining the recipe’s to the guests. In our opinion there was enough selection to keep us happy for two weeks. The chef’s grandmother’s recipe for Walnut cake is incredible!
The pool area is very nicely laid out and there were always enough sun beds for those that enjoyed soaking up the sun or getting into a good book.
Now comes my best part as I love dancing. Ollie the resident entertainer is fantastic both at singing and playing the trumpet, his range and knowledge of music is huge and even if you did not get up to dance, you could not help but to sit and tap your feet to the tunes. I enjoyed getting up every night and dancing with my wife to his music whether it be Latin, jazz, pop etc. I have to say at this point that Jamie, who is the Thomson residential rep, is outstanding at working hard to make sure everyone has a good time and enjoys themselves. Well done Jamie. There is a Greek night each week where Costa and Christina, two of the staff, get to show off their skills at dancing, which is very enjoyable to watch. They then give the residents a chance to join in and learn some Greek dancing.
We cannot comment on the Thomson tours as we hired a car for ten days from Pefanis car hire, with no excess added on, as most others tend to do. This was arranged by Suzie the Thomson rep. and at a very good rate.
The cleanliness of the hotel is outstanding, as is the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. We don’t think we have been to a hotel where the staff have been so happy in their jobs, which is a great commendation to the management.
If I had any complaint about the hotel, it would be that if you did not finish your evening meal quite quickly, you were very unlikely to get a comfortable seat to watch the entertainment. As for the position of the hotel, this was not a problem. The lovely village of Skala is only a 15 minute walk away and a lovely place to visit in the day and evening.
As you will have gathered from the above, we highly recommend this hotel. Penny and John
