We liked the fact that this wasn't a tourist trap and was well visited by the locals. We talked to one other couple who were visitors but all the rest seemed to be Irish. We had dinner and my husband said the salmon was lovely, the veg exactly right. I had to mention my lactose intolerance and they were willing to make some changes to ordinary items - usually the mashed potato - which could be changed to no dairy, otherwise the curry would have been the only choice. With the mash changed to chips, I had a very nice Irish stew with big chunks of beef rather than the lamb we'd had elsewhere. Very ample and satisfying. We'd been told there would be live music that evening, which was a Sunday, but as it turned out, that was incorrect, so we missed the music. They said the musician had been there the 4 previous evenings.

Dropped in here for a quick meal(dinner) during our stay at Cong. Meal was served quickly and efficiently. The steak was not the best i've had but not the worst either. All in all not bad for a pub dinner. Beer was cold which was good.

We ordered their Irish Stew and it was tremendous. Almost as good as mine. A quaint place to get a great meal.

We were looking to have traditional Irish stew and came across this pub. All four of us had the stew and none of us were disappointed. The pub, particular in the front, is quaint and cozy and the staff friendly with fast service. A really nice place to spend a couple hours, have something to eat and drink a few beers.

Can't believe we bought two beers and two G&Ts and were charged €30...

I could understand the outlandish cost if this was somewhere special, or a five star establishment, but it is neither. It is more like a run-of-the-mill and slightly rundown seaside resort hotel, so the extravagant charges were a bit of a shock.

There are alternative, and possibly more competitively priced, establishments in the village, but unfortunately we only found out (to our cost) the exorbitant prices after we'd ordered the drinks.
