We stumbled upon this pub while walking around in Cong. It was our last lunch in Ireland, and although our kids have great palates, they were ready for some pizza! The staff was very friendly and the service was good. Hubby and I ordered the Cream of Mushroom soup, which was fantastic. Pizzas were good, too--kids were very content! The bartender asked the kids if they also wanted some fries, which they of course answered yes. The fries (chips) came out golden brown. (Most of the chips we had in Ireland were served a little less done that what we like). Very nice lunch!

Delighted to hear everybody was happy and we all know if the kids are happy - Mom & dad are super happy. Hope you call when you are in Cong again?

Best regards

we visited the village of cong and called in at the crowe's nest bar for a meal and a drink , late afternoon and early in the week the bar was not too busy and we found a table quite easily - the young lady serving us was very pleasant greeting us with a big smile - my wife opted for the fish and chips -which came with a nice side salad ,tartare sauce and lots of chips - cooked perfectly the lightly breaded fillet was very much enjoyed - i went for the 'daily special ' a toasted ciabatta roll with chicken breast and cheese and a smokey barbecue sauce, side salad garnish and a side order of chips , it was delicious - the chicken breast was juicy and the sauce was smokey but not overbearing . we had been traveling since 7 am and were both very hungry by the time we ate - the service was quick and the food well presented and cooked and very reasonably priced too , washed down with a large pot of tea for my wife and a nice pint of guinness for myself , a very good place to eat .

The Crowe's Nest Bar & Restaurant is a great place for excellent pub food in the picturesque town of Cong, location of John Ford's famous film, The Quiet Man. Bacon and cabbage is a speciality in County Mayo and so glad to see it on menu and it was delicious. The homemade pizza is also excellent and this place is good value for money. The only offputting feature was 2-3 senior citizens, one American, getting very drunk and loud at lunchtime on a sunny day - unpleasant.

I don’t know if we looked intimidating as there were 6 of us, but the service was lacking. Once we finally received our food, it too was disappointing. A second beverage was not an option as we were never asked. Barely able to get our bill so we could leave. Even more difficult was watching a fuss being made over a table near by.

We ate in Cohan's pub across the street the night before; but the Crow's Nest has nothing to worry about there. The difference between the two pubs is like day and night. The Crow's nest staff were courteous, polite and professional. The service was quick, the food was delicious - they didn't come back every couple of minutes to ask if we were enjoying our meal - they didn't have to - they are obviously confident about the quality of the food. The Crow's nest is recommended without hesitation!
