My husband and I stayed here a couple weeks ago for one night during our trip to Ireland and couldn't have been happier. The Ashford Castle grounds are absolutely stunning and we could've spent an entire day simply walking around. The Lodge is located within walking distance (about 5-10 min) of the Ashford Castle, as well as Cullen's at the Cottage, etc., but transportation is provided anywhere onsite if you're staying at either the Castle or the Lodge. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was beautiful and had a lovely fountain in the middle with flowers and benches around it. The room was on the small side, but for one night, we didn’t mind. We checked in and were shown to our room, which had a king bed, air conditioning (we were here during a heat wave, so the A/C was a blessing), rain shower, heated floors and heated towel rack in the bathroom. The only downside was the bed itself – I found it very uncomfortable and lumpy, but again, for one night it didn’t bother me. We had breakfast at Wilde’s at the Lodge the next morning, which was wonderful. The staff at the Lodge were all incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We loved our stay here.

We recently spent one night at the hotel while on a cycling trip around Galway/Mayo area. We chose the Lodge because, frankly, the Castle was out of our budget, but we were completely delighted with the Lodge. It was plenty luxurious for us! The staff are so friendly, the location is stunning, the room was large with a lovely view of the lake, the bathroom was totally modern with a huge shower, air conditioning worked well, and both the dinner and breakfast experiences were outstanding. (The dining room is especially lovely, with great menu and fantastic service staff.) The wifi was a little weak in our room, but worked beautifully elsewhere in the Lodge. It's simply a great experience - wish we had stayed longer.

From reservation to check out we had a superb experience at The Lodge.

The reservation team and Duty Managers are outstanding (Saskia was so helpful in helping us amend our booking dates). They made the whole process incredibly easy.

The check in and check out were smooth. We had two rooms - the Mulcahy Suite and a Deluxe room. Both were well equipped and very comfortable.

The hotel has a really fabulous ambiance. It has its own character. Very welcoming and very relaxing vibe. A lot of thought and panache has gone into the design and styling.

The food is exquisite. The breakfast is awesome. Would have happily stayed longer than our three nights just to try everything on the Breakfast menu! We had an excellent lunch at Cullen’s at the Cottage.

The team really makes this hotel special – everyone is friendly, efficient and professional.

The Lodge is a genuinely dog friendly hotel.

Activities wise – there is so much to do. We did the Boat Trip which was fab. Patrick is an excellent story-teller – very easy to listen to. We had Afternoon Tea, which was lovely. We decided to do a Beach Ride at Carrow Holly – it was an amazing experience with very good horses and guide.

The Castle Grounds are gorgeous – and Cong is a lovely village. There were eateries there that we would visit on a return trip. There were tonnes of great walks – there’s a Nature Reserve adjoining the Grounds.

All in all it was a wonderful three night break.

We are part of the fantastic Ashford Estate with beautiful grounds and walks to explore and a number of activities to certainly keep one busy throughout their stay. We are glad that you got to enjoy the Corrib Cruise, Patrick and his team are fantastic and the boat trip gives such wonderful views back towards the estate.
Thank you once again for your kind review and we hope to welcome you back to The Lodge at Ashford Castle very soon.

I was pleasantly surprised at this property just 10 minutes walk from Ashford Castle. This property used to be the home of the castle's manager. The common areas are decorated very nicely and the grounds are lovely. We stayed in a lower-tier room for one night before checking into the castle. It was fine although a bit tight. I burned my bun on the shower rack coming out of the shower, if that gives you an idea. But the shower was a good one. Room was decorated in bright white and red, which made me think of Poland or Austria, but it is probably supposed to make you think of their Red Carnation hotel chain. Most of the rooms are duplexes but some suites are on one level. Rooms toward the back don't have a view. Food is excellent; dinner in the restaurant was as good as any we had anywhere else even in the castle, and breakfast was also strong with fresh juices and order-whatever-you-want from the menu. Get a dinner table by the windows overlooking the front yard and harbor. Bicycles are available and they are useful if you want to go to the gym or pool at the castle (they are building a big one for the Lodge which is supposed to open by early 2023). Right now at the Castle those facilities are limited even to castle guests. Air conditioning was OK in the room (not great) but they give you these huge duvets and I can't imagine that anyone in Ireland sleeps like this in the summer. Ask for sheets when you arrange your room if it is summer. I would be interested in returning here after their new spa and gym are open and I would recommend a suite instead of a duplex. Hotel was very responsive pre-arrival and arranging last minute Connemara-region sightseeing tour for us with the hotel driver Ray Kelly who was excellent, by the way.

We spent 3 nights at The Lodge and this was our Favorite Hotel throughout our 12 days in Ireland! From the moment we arrived the staff provided excellent service with any and all requests! Stephen out front provided super helpful tips for our day trip to Galway and we were greeted each morning for breakfast by Kevin! He was such a great start to our day and we found ourselves wishing we had a Kevin at our other hotels. Rose and Izzy were so lovely each morning as well! Rooms were spotless , beds were comfortable and the property was beautiful and relaxed!
