For anyone visiting Cong an opportunity not to be missed is how I would describe a trip by ferry to Inchagoill Island. David, our captain, shared his knowledge of Lough Corrib and the surrounding countryside with us as we journeyed to and from Inchagoill Island on a beautiful sunny day. On landing on the island he gave us a very informative guided tour around the ruins of the churches. There were fourteen in our group and we all enjoyed a wonderful day.

We were staying in the Lodge at Ashford Castle. Great place to chill out for or or two nights. During breakfast we were told about the Cruise on Lough Corrib by the boats captain and we quickly decided to sign up. I must say it was the highlight of our trip. It was a beautiful spring morning and the scenery was amazing. I usually am not a fan of boats but being a lake it is very calm. The tour itself wass very interesting and educational about Ashford Castle and the surrounding estate. Some very funny anecdotes too that only a local could tell. I doubt you will read them in any guide book. The whole thing lasted about an hour and I must say we were really happy for the rest of the day after it. One thing. Do not make the same mistake as me. If you have a decent camera then bring it because the scenery/landscape is amazing. Being on the water gives you a completely different perspective of the area. I highly recommend that anyone visiting this area or staying in Ashford does this.

We took this cruise on honeymoon and loved it! The April weather was cool but there is ample space in the cabin which also has a bar and excellent views. The crew were friendly and the commentary easily audible and very interesting. Thanks to spring sunshine, I have wonderful photos to remember it by. A great way to enjoy the scenery and hear anecdotes from locals.

The captain Patrick is a true local with an exciting and in depth knowledge of local history, great boat and great bar. The island is beautiful and the tour is even better. Don't miss this great experience. :)

This tour was very pleasant, relaxing and informative. We enjoy history and culture, and we learned much about the history of the area and Catholic Faith in Ireland from here.
