We travelled here in October 2008 and I highly recommend it - in my opinion, it was even better than the 5 star Hotel Gran Melia Volcan in Playa Blanca, which we stayed at for the second week. Okay nothing could beat the Volcan for its beautiful rooms, gorgeous pools and spectaculour array of foods from around the world, but for good, old-fashioned home comforts, location, price and staff - it would be the Cinco Plazas every time.

The apartments are arranged around one of five pools in the complex, all were clean and well maintained. The apartments themselves were clean and well fitted out with every home comfort you could wish for. There was entertainment every evening at the hotel, but we didn't stay for that every night - not with the main road so close to the apartment complex. We ate at the lovely 'Slow Boat' a Chinese Buffet Restaurant just down the hill from the hotel - excellent value, all you can eat for just 5euros - and very tasty!

We also visited the fabulous American Indian Bar in the main road, live music every night and good value food and cocktails - you'll love it. We spent a very happy New Year's Eve here in 2007 until 5.00am - very friendly staff and an excellent atmosphere!

If you are a diver, or just like snorkelling to see the colourful fish - a visit to the furthest beach from Matagorda is a good idea. It is situated behind the Los Farriones Hotel and is surrounded by rocks, hence the plentiful supply of fish. Try taking a handful of dry crackers into the water with you and just watch as the fish come to you - breathtaking!

My husband and I stayed in the cinco plaza apartments from 30th September - 7th October. We thought the apartments were lovely. They were clean and spacious. The complex itself was very centrally located. It was only a short walk from the main strip, where there was a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The pool area had a very nice atmosphere during the day with plenty of daytime activities going on. There were also plenty of sun loungers for everyone even when there were lots of people around the pool. The pool area was also very clean and well maintained. The restaurant was very nice also and although we did not go into the bar at night, there was some entertainment on almost every night and seemed quite lively. The staff at reception were very helpful, pleasant and friendly, and so too were the staff all around the complex.
The only negative things we could say about our holiday at the cinco plazas was that we would have liked an apartment with a better view, as our room was almost at back of the complex. This did not really bother us, but a room by the pool or with a balcony would have been nicer. Also we would have liked our towels changed more frequently as we only got fresh towels once in the week. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the cinco plazas and would stay here again.

Just got home about 1 hour ago and here we are already writing a review about another fantastic stay at Cinco Plazas in lanzarote. This is our second visit to this resort, but on reading the reviews before we left we were very shocked at what had been written. Knowing how much fun we had on the last visit we couldn't wait to get there and see for ourselves. Great welcome on arrival, fantastic room with sea view, clean spacious living area. woke up to clean pool area, no cockroaches or untidy areas. Fantastic restaurant food..Especially the breakfast buffet selection. Excellent service from a nice guy called mustapha. will return again...a great place to stay. ignore bad reviews it's fabulous.

We have travelled to Lanzarote three times now and this has to be the worst complex we have ever stayed in. We arrived on the 26th of September. After reading mixed reviews on this I wasnt sure what to expect. First impressions of the complex from the outside and location great. We got room number 2136. Which was right overlooking the road, even though we had booked one with a pool view through Falcon. Once we got to the room we were so disappointed. A small room in a typical house would be larger than this sweatbox we were given. A fairly small fan for air con, the bathroom only had half a bath, yes I said half a bath. Dirty mops in the bathroom also. Window would not open. The security is a joke as the apartments can be entered through many different gates around the complex that seemed to be unlocked during the little time we stayed. The heat in the rooms is unreal, I ended up going down to Reception asking them to move us and of course got no joy. In the end we booked accomadation elsewhere in the La Morona apartments which were fablous.

we arrived in the afternoon after a near 4 hour flight delay. after an easy check in with helpfull reception staff we made our way to our 1 bedroom apartment at the top of the apartment complex. we were in a top floor apartment in the very corner of the complex which wasn't the best location visually but was quiet at night. (i would recomend requesting any pool view apartment) our apartment was clean and spacious with water waiting for us in the fridge,

the apartments are unfortunately unbearably hot especially at night when trying to sleep. we always take a bedside fan but any fan just isn't up to the job. these apartments really do need air conditioning installed. i for one would be happy to pay extra for a decent nights sleep. believe me every night is unbearably hot. this is the only complaint i would have with the apartments. maid service was OK, our bathroom didn't smell and was always clean.

the complex itself is well kept in my view, clean with plenty of sun loungers. there were however more chair hogs than any other complex i have stayed before. people must have been up literaly at 7am or earlier to grab beds under the umbrella's that are scattered around the pool areas. more often than not these people dont return much before lunch time to finally make use of them so for approximately 4 to 5 hours each morning you watch peoples towels getting a sun tan. there were alot of Irish staying at these apartments and apart from one group they were all nice decent people unlike some other reviews have complained about, there was one group of Irish guys who were particularly drunk, argumentative and foul mouthed daily and also one English family group who were as foul mouthed and loud so they come in all forms it's certainly not unique to any paticular country. ( you can't buy decency)

the staff we encountered were all polite and helpfull. yes some speak spanish as other reviews here mention, but surprise surprise your in spain! they speak spanish here! when serving you they speak english. this really amuses me with some people. how some can venture to foreign shores on vacation and expect every one to speak the engish langauge as a matter of course is laughable.

the aparyments are very close to the nightlife that Puerto Del Carmen has to offer which is varied and plentiful. there is a good supermarket virually next door which is handy. the hill is quite to the sea front resort is a bit of a pain but managable unless you are particularly imobile. we did have breakfast included which we found OK. the food was decent enough but was never more than warm at best regardless it seemed of how early you arrived between 08.00am to 10.30am. the usual fare / choice was on offer from, cereal, fruit and yogurt, toast and full english breakfast all buffet style. coffee, tea and cold drinks (which were only dilutes not fresh juices). if it was hotter it would have been very good! we did have a problem however on 3 seperate occations with our names not being on the breakfast list given daily to the breakfast service staff from the reception. this was particularly annoying as we would end up standing in the dining room waiting for the staff to confirm we were entitled to breakfast or asked us when part way through our breakfast! once OK but three seperate days in the same week thats just incompetent.

generally we had a great holiday for the money we payed and I would return and recomend the complex overall.

by the way we never experienced any theft or heard of any while we were there!
