As the title says ... it is a refurbished Old water-tower. You will climb the stairs to take some height and observe all Viljandi from the top. Simple but nice!
I like to go up of towers. So this was a must do during our three day stay in Viljandi. To enter the old water tower you have to pay 2,-Euro. Fair! From the top level you have nice view, bad sadly the windows were a bit dirty. Please clean up. From the next lower level the view is also good and the window are quit clear. From this old tower you also see the water tower from soviet times. It’s close to the Lake Paala. Completely different building.
Fascinating old water-tower in Estonia, we actually drove by 2 of them. Not sure how they function, but very unusual to me at least.
One of Vijlandi's most distinctive landmarks is 30m red-brick water tower topped with a hexagonal wooden structure. It was built in 1911 and reconstructed in 2001 as an observation tower. It offers great views over the city and countryside.
Great viewing point, spiral staircase goes up to the top. The 30 m high red brick water tower was constructed in 1911 and was preserved until today with its small windows and the octangular wooden upper part. It was renovated in 2001 as an observation tower and it is bright and tidy and there are several storeys. During my visit there was also exhibition of photos and jewelry (the three storeys of the tower accommodate one permanent and several travelling exhibitions).
Entrance fee is 2 EUR and you get really nice photos of the town, check my photos.
