The lodge is upscale, beautifully set out and extremely relaxing. We were a family of 5 staying in the two bedroom villa which was very comfortable with an ocean view. Silvia and Aldo went out of their way to make us and our kids feel welcome. They arranged all of our excursions and activities out of Lonno Lodge. The food was fantastic! They catered to our individual needs and we all stuffed ourselves so much we've put on weight!! The staff were helpful and friendly.

We will return....

Room tip: all rooms have great view of ocean

My girlfriend and I chose Lonno Lodge for our quick 4 days holiday over Easter break and we couldn't have chosen better. A couple of days before our arrival, we contacted Lonno to arrange our pick up at Mombasa airport, which was a very good choice, with the driver waiting for us for c.1 hour more than the scheduled time who accommodate us on a very comfortable minivan with fresh water and wifi. Once arrived at Lonno, you immediately realize that your expectations won't be betrayed...The place is amazing and the pool+ocean view, terrific. Due to the limited number of private apartments (#8), the lovely Aldo and Silvia, can manage the resort in a very friendly and easy going -but also professional- way, and are able to accommodate (almost) all of guests' requests, including the (very important) planning of activities and excursions, whether you want to try a safari (that we didn't do due to a lack of days), a boat trip, mountain bike or quad bike excursion, snorkeling etc. The apartment and all the resort are very clean and very well finished. Food simply amazing, with top class fish dishes and Italian wines. It will be hard not spending all day lying on the sunbeds by the pool, with the ocean on the background. To be mentioned that the sea is only accessible in the low tide hours (typically 11-15). All in all, there is nothing I would change about the place, which is a great choice either for couples, families and solo travelers. Watamu is a place for relax and activities during the day, rather than crazy nights out and, in this respect, Lonno is the best choice you can find. We promised Silvia that we'll be back one day, and you can bet we'll keep our word!

Actually - I would give this 4.5 stars but TA doesn't give me that option!

I needed a week of quiet and beauty and this is what I found when I spent 5 days that Lonno Lodge. The lodge only has 8 rooms - so 24 guests max. Sylvia and Aldo are amazing hosts with attention to even the smallest details. Aldo is a man of all trades and his experience as an architect is clear. Sylvia runs the reservations, kitchen, etc and she was so helpful in the planning process. She watches over each guest's needs and preferences. She has trained the staff so that the service is absolutely exceptional. The pool is absolutely stunning with glorious views of the sea. The lodge sits atop a cliff and as the tide goes in and out the colors of the sea are constantly changing. The rooms are so very spacious and a gentle breeze keeps them cool. At night I did need the fan to sleep a bit more comfortably. The meals are delicious - I mostly had dinner but the fresh pasta made specifically for each meal and the fish were exceptional.

The only thing to know is that there really isn't a sandy beach at the lodge - it didn't matter to me but if that is something that is key to a holiday it is just something to know... no walking on the long sandy beaches of Watamu (unless you drive over) or walk over (about 1.5 km) during low tide. While there were several familles there during my stay, this lodge may or may not suite a family's needs if you want a sand beach experience - there are no beach boys - no kite surfing or jet skiing or..... which was perfect for me - not sure about for those children who need to be busy all the time. Alternatively, Sylvia will arrange for snorkeling trips, kayaking, etc and none of those departure points are far from the lodge.

I traveled alone and it was lovely - they offer a solo female traveler special that was amazing and so very, very reasonable - and included a free massage which was also a wonderful treat. I would definitely go back! Look for me soon!

Room tip: There are only 8 rooms and they all have good views - it just depends on the room you require (room or suite).

your review was really attentive and accurate, thank you for that! You're absolutely right that we don't feature the "postcard beach" :-), even if at low tide you can walk on the sand and reach the tiny islands in front of the lodge. Let me only add that this also has a few side advantages, the main one being to give the you choice to be completely on your privacy, or decide to join other tourists, which unfortunately also attract more "souvenir seller" :-).
And thank you for pointing out the Female Solo Traveller package, particulary tailored to female guests willing to take a break in full and complete relax.

We're looking forward to welcome you again at The Charming Lonno Lodge, have a great day!

Lonno Lodge is an amazing place to stay. Beautiful rooms, pool area and wonderful hosts combined with great food. What else could you ask for?

The Lodge is location on a quite part of the cost and and at low tide you can walk to the reef islands or all the way to Watamu village.

Well, I am not sure where we should start? Our trip to Kenya was fantastic, in many ways because our stay at The Charming Lonno Lodge was simply amazing. From the driver and car that the lodge provided us for the drive from Mombasa to Watamu to the terrific accommodations, delicious food, excellent service, unique location and more importantly for the personal attention Silvia and Aldo (the owners) give all of their guests. We have been to a lot of nice and unique places but I must say that Lonno Lodge is without a doubt my wife & mine favourite place. We can't wait to go back to Watamu to spend another 10-days in paradise. Our warmest thanks for Silvia and Aldo for taking such good care of us and for being such great people. We also would like to thank Alain, Janet, Dorothy, Rehema and Kaparo for looking after us during our stay, your kindness will be forever embedded in our hearts. Fratello & Sorella please keep another bottle of Prosecco on ice, as we are planning to come back sooner than later to enjoy your company once again and of course to eat the BEST home made lasagna in the world. Thanks for everything, Sue & Paulo.

Room tip: The Tower Room is a great choice, the views are amazing.
