We are in the final days of a week stay at Nutmeg South Jamaica, and are so impressed with the facility, I feel compelled to pass along this recommendation now, rather than risk not doing so once I return to reality back home.
We are a group of 4 couples who have traveled together many times, including several cruises, all-inclusive resorts, and hotel/resort vacations. While we always enjoy meeting fellow travelers, we decided to try a different experience; one which truly centered on getting away from large crowds, in hopes of finding a truly relaxing vacation.
If you are considering a stay in Jamaica, this is the place. While there are numerous villas here, and many with equal amenities, our group could not find anything lacking, or that we would want in another facility. The property description is truthful, the pictures are a true representation of the beauty of this property. It is spacious, with 5 bedrooms, pool with several lounges, pool table, ping pong, ample TV's, dvd players with library of cd's & dvd's, wifi, all situated on 5 acres of beautiful grounds. Possibly the only shortcoming in the property description is that they do not explain how AMAZING the onsite staff is. They are possibly the finest group we have encountered in our years of traveling, enhanced by the fact they have one goal-to satisfy your every need. While they do the grocery shopping for you, based on your desires (be prepared, things are expensive on all the islands), the meals equal those of finer places back home. From the moment they all greeted us as we arrived at the property, you actually could feel that they were a special group of dedicated people, giving you the feeling they almost owned the property themselves.
Included in the amenities of this property is access to the Half Moon Bay resort, including free green fees on the golf course! With another nearby course course quoting $175/round, our group of 4 golfers enjoyed this bonus, while the wives took advantage of access to the spa, private beach, and workout facilities.
Shopping options are abound in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios ( more than an hour away, but worth the drive, if for no other reason than to experience Dunn's River Falls). Food-wise, the best experience beyond the villa, may be Scotchies, which is on the left side of the road on the way to MoBay.
