Mt husband and I had a night away for my 70th birthday. We chose the Percy French Hotel because it was the only hotel although there are a few B&Bs.
The outside is well painted and colourful with flower baskets, there is plenty of parking at the back.
The room was on the 3rd floor (be advised there is no lift!!) and it was a bit of a hike. The room was lovely with a big double and a single under the eaves but with a nice view of the town. Beware! The people in the chipper across the street can see you at the window.
The bathroom, although very dated with green and white subway tiles, was spotlessly clean with loads of towels and some toiletries.
The breakfast the next morning was lovely and there was plenty of it. It would set you up for the day and helpfully they serve until 11 am.
There was no one at reception when we arrived and we had to wait quite a long time. It seems the staff, who are lovely, have double duties in the hotel
In my opinion reception should be the face of the hotel and someone should be there full time all the time.
